  1. Not just Ocado. A friend works for a supermarket and the number of items ordered online over the weekend is double that of the same time last year. They have also had several people going into store asking for cases of hand sanitizers and hand wipes - of which they’ve already sold out of anyway.
  2. Just got the Hatfield and the intensity has definitely picked up - there’s a light dusting on cars and grass now.
  3. The squall line just passed here north of Bradford and that was a wild couple of minutes!
  4. Gusts have picked up again the last half an hour, unexpectedly.
  5. Ciara is definitely making it's mark further south now -
  6. M1 northbound between J14 and 15 currently closed by a blown over lorry -
  7. Gusts have definitely picked up in the last half an hour here in Herts. The garden fence is already looking like it’s struggling...
  8. This is the latest from Nick L in the storm thread having looked at the latest data from the UKV. No suggestion of a change in the track of the storm.
  9. Given that the amber warning only kicked in at 8am and that the strongest winds aren’t forecasted until early afternoon, I think we can safely say that we’re in for a wild day.
  10. Ah great, thanks for the update! The more you know eh!
  11. Most of the train companies in the South East and London area have started warning of speed restrictions and disruption on Sunday. You get the feeling they’ve been briefed by the MetO to expect higher winds over a wider area than just the amber warming currently suggests.
  12. I think if the models are still showing a similar picture tomorrow morning we will see it expanded.
  13. A tweet earlier this morning from Dan Holley on Sunday... https://twitter.com/danholley_/status/1225356960574443520?s=21
  14. Cannot believe how heavy the rain in the last twenty-odd minute’s has been here!
  15. Just passed through Doncaster on the train and it looked like a serious situation in areas around the Don. Stay safe everyone.
  16. Events at Meadowhall cancelled as a result of flooding.
  17. Worst of the gusts will probably hit further east late morning/early afternoon.
  18. Certainly feels more humid now than it did when I first left the house this morning. I’m actually looking forward to a day or two of on/off rain this weekend after the heat.
  19. Big convective rain drops have started here.
  20. Fair to say I’m looking forward to my commutes on public transport not taking place in this heat from tomorrow!
  21. Hopefully he’ll be alright, I think he’s looking forward to having somewhere cool in the house to relax come Friday!
  22. Haven’t really enjoyed the hot weather this week, particularly with how much it’s limited my outdoor activity and the effect it’s had on my sleeping. It’s also had an impact on my cat, who has struggled with the temps and will continue to do so tomorrow. However, I am on the flip side fascinated to see how tomorrow turns out and what 37c/38c feels like. Luckily I have good air con at work and they’re allowing us to wear relaxed clothes, but I have a lot of sympathy for those who do not have such luxuries. Once tomorrow’s ‘peak’ temperature is out the way I’ll be looking forward to both the risk of storms and the fresher weather in the days that follow. One day of high 30’s is enough for me.
