Wish I had my weather station. It's at home unfortunately. It's only a cheap Oregon one but would be very helpful right now !
-
Cardiff airport reporting snow/rain and the airport is right on the cosst
-
What a difference 10 minutes makes, temp dropped 0.4C and wait for it.... BLIZZARD conditions outside!
Exactly sorry about our differences but I knew things were heading in the right directon
-
Just 1.9c on that Bridgend station now. I think everything is on track and in 2 hrs time most of us will have heavy snow
-
This wind here is incredible
-
Chill out, just because my opinion doesn't tie in with yours doesn't mean I'm not entitled to express it. I'm not trying to wipe the event away, just saying that in my opinion it won't be anything like as severe as has been forecast. And yes, forecasters and weather models can get it wrong from time to time.
Say the stuff your saying in 4 hrs time and il agree with you. right now no, because it was never going to be snow until after 3. The front is a little ahead of scheldule but the cold undercutting is still going to happen
-
That Bridgend station has dropped by nearly 1c in about 40mins and here anyway it's certainly starting to turn to snow, some big flakes. It's not completely snow yet but defiantly turning and where my gf lives is only about 90-100 meters asl
-
Yes temps are falling but there is still some way to go. I agree that between 2am and 4am is when the cold undercutting will really start to take place.
It's not over till the fat lady sings and to wipe this event away like your trying to do isn't brushing. I very much doubt the top forecasters and the top computer models got this wrong at this range.
-
Oh look it's just started snowing here. Think evaporative cooling, SE Winds picking up and heavier precip = snow.
-
Heavy rain here now, and up in Giflach at over 200m asl, this is going to need a remarkable turnaround if the forecasts are to manifest. Current temp 3C DP 2C
Look at the actual forecasts. Met Off had temperatures for Llantrisant at 4c at 12:00, 2c at 3 (well on the way there) and -1c at 6. The temps are falling rapidly if you look at winderground stations
-
http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=ISWALESB2 I'm following this station in Bridgend. I'm in Llantrisant at my gfs and that's probably the closest station. Temp falling rapidly there.

Toatally agree, I'm surprised my noose joke was removed, humour is obviously not allowed when it comes to snow as even the mods are snow biased!!! Anyway back on topic, the frontal band is edging ever closer with snow flurries reported in Aberdare and Llantrisant, rain edging into Swansea and Port Talbot. I should go to bed but this is riveting. No widespread change in temps as yet with air temps around 4-5C and dew points 0-2C around the coasts but lower inland.
Your picture and joke was kinda sick tbf
-
Very clever.... Youll be proven wrong no doubt
-
What bought out all the doomers?
-
Crossing everything I've got that we won't get too much snow in Deiniolen, N West Wales. My granfather's funeral is on Saturday! Currently it's windy, dry and 1.8C .
Sorry to hear about your loss
-
Don't know if my eyes playing tricks again but I believe we have some light snow here.
-
Sky looking orange here now

Temperatures and dew points are falling. Precipitation is nearing. We are on a RED ALERT! Seriously people stop being so negative. Look at Met Office forecast and NAE, temps we're always predicted to be this high at the current time before plummeting around 2-3am. This is the most promising event for Wales since 2010 maybe 1982? Just enjoy it. weather will do what it wants but it looks promising to me.
-
Im actually feeling really tired so Im going to sleep now so then I'm not tired watching the snow tonight
-
Thanks, that's encouraging. It's always marginal here on the coast.
NAE has temps falling to 0c or below across pretty much the whole of Wales by 6am
does anybody else find themselves with the feeling ........"i know its coming, i know its going to happen and when I wake up its going to be a winter wonderland" but i still cant believe it?
Yes
-
Interesting just went backwards on BBC News 24 to the last weather forecast and he said the words 'take action'.
-
Met Office warnings probably going to be updated soon. Wonder what they'll show

Working from home tommorrow morning but got to get to the Drs about 4pm. If the trains have stopped running down the Valley (which I suspect will be pretty much inevetable) going to have to walk about 4 miles through the worst of it tommorrow afternoon - not looking forwrad to that at all.
My mums a carer, in Dec 2010 the only way she could get around was by train so you never know. We had about 14inches of snow then. My mum is dreading this snow as she'll have to walk many miles every day to make sure her customers are okay (heating on, food etc). Hopefully the trains will still be operating so it makes it a bit easier for her. She went and put winter tires on her car this year and its a big car so she might be alri in a little bit of snow but I don't even think her car would be able to get through what we're gonna be experiencing tomorrow. Good luck anyway! I'm staying wrapped up in bed tomorrow watching through the window and taking pictures:)

Is this snow gonna hang around all day? It's basically not moving on the radar. It's not settling anymore and is melting but it still snowing.
