  1. Well forget my last post. The 12z is a bitterly (excuse the pun) disappointing run, which erases snow potential from our region Thursday/Friday pretty much entirely. It does make more of the front on Saturday night though compared to the last, so some areas could see 3-5cm from that one as it passes through. To be fair though it's nothing compared to what some parts of East Anglia and the SE could experience on Friday with the stalling front. Good luck to them and I do mean that sincerely, but I can't believe a NEly of this calibre is only going to provide very localised dumpings in the SE corner. wallbash.gif

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif the 12z run BLOWS. what happened here???????? I KNEW we would get squat, minus the odd flurry. This is so annoying! I always promise myself to not get my hopes up, but I cant help it after staring at the potential weather prospects for about 10 days straight EVERY day like some kind of 6year old who never saw snow before. Now I am dissappointed AGAIN as somewhere else rakes in the snow. I'm moving Finland......nonono.gif

  2. Agreed, Leicester MAY do well from this but I have a bad feeling that the precip will skirt with the Eastern side of Leicestershire and Rutland and then slide South across East Anglia and the South East wallbash.gif

I totally agree with you- same for Nottingham, I reckon we might get a few flurries blowing in the wind, but about 10 miles east of us will get snow. I'd bet on it! dry.gif

  3. +sigh+ gloomy in Notts and misting out. Downgrade from yesterday for snow too I think.. Due to get some flurries, but no more moderate snow fall, and only sporadic flurries at best. At least its not forecast to rain though. I always tell myself not to get excited about these weather events as I know darn well that they always end up being like 17 flakes, 20 minutes of mist, and then fog for the rest of the period. I agree too that the temps seem to be rising! cc_confused.gif

  4. Haha - sorry, should make it clear that I've come home for the weekend, so I'm in East Dorset at the moment! But the drive down from Nottingham yesterday had some insane driving conditions in places. I would have been playing football today at Grove Farm (the UoN Sports Place by the River Trent) but apparently the fields are waterlogged, so it got cancelled!

oh right!! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Yes- you're totally right about the insane rain at about 6--8pm last night. Thats WAS mental!! lol!!!! deffo will explain why I was all cc_confused.gif when you going on about the wind! lol!!!

  5. That's because Nottingham is permanently grey anyway! tease.gif Though it's not as if Nottingham hasn't been hit, went up the pub on Thursday night to find Faraday Road (Radford/Lenton) flooded on its junction with Ilkeston Road.

hahahaha!!! I know right- Land of no Weather- we have gotten some heavy bursts that do mini floods on the roads, but those bursts seem to only last like 15 minutes... Maybe the Notts sheild is more like a Sherwood Sheild hahaha!! rolleyes.gif

  6. Damn, you stole my thunder!

It's very grey out there, very windy too, with rain on and off. I think people are mistaken if they think this one is a non-event.

Got woken up at half 6 this morning by rain/hail (didn't look which) drumming an incredible tattoo against my bedroom window, absolutely insane. Then just stopped, all of a sudden.

    Also: http://www.bournemou...to_lash_Dorset/

hey I heard that as well hahaha! but then it stopped and I went to walk the dog at 9am and honostly, NOTHING wind-wise. Blue-ass skies and just a gently meadow breeze of about 10mph! I live in Sherwood, so not that far! Gettin cloudy to my west though, so maybe some squally conditions to come? But I really expected more from this other than the 6am rain-slamming-against-window-event.

  7. Hi everyone!! well its been crystal clear skies all morning here in good ol' Notts (smell that sarcasm) and we have had wind gusts of about 10 m.p.h! lol!!! Its j-u-s-t starting to cloud over now though, and I t-h-i-n-k the wind is starting to pick up, but frankly, I thought we were suppossed to get a hell of a lot more than this!!! At first I thought I might have slept through it, but at 9am, I went for a walk and there was no broken twigs or bins knocked over or owt- so I reckon Nottingham has its storm sheild up again... +sigh+...

  8. A fair few showers around this morning. Most are on the heavy side, no Lightning or thunder as of yet.

HAS ANYONE ELSE GOT PROBLEMS WITH THE NET-WEATHER RADAR

funny you should mention that- as I use Raintoday's radar, and they are stuck at 10am! I also read that met office's radar is down too cc_confused.gif

Gone quite gusty and dark! feels as though I'm gonna see a flash of lightning any moment for some reason!

  9. technically i haven't - the 8 are comprised of one distant rumble of thunder each time. Seriously, i take anything these days as a storm!

Overhead-wise, I've had about 4. Most were weak, with just a few rumbles, but i had two moderate storms last Thursday.

I long for a 6th August storm like last year!

Ahhhhh. that's better lol!! Yeah, its weird- how do you calculate an actual storm? I have had 2 days of thunder which consisted of 1 rumble in April, and quite a few rumbles on some other random day in June, and then 2 short lived storms this year. I was about to pack my bags and move south for a minute!!! lol!!!!!

  10. And the second shower has developed about 1 mile from me. fool.gif

lol! I am watching the www.raintoday.co.uk radar, and you are so right- you deffo have a sheild up today. I feel for you, this ALWAYS happens to me in Notts. Hopefully your sheild will fall down in a bit, as there is constant precip building to your west and travelling east. smile.gif

to be fair, GFS has been hinting at heavy showers here all morning until 1pm, when they drift SEwards onto the continent and thereafter any showers will be N + W of London.

    shok.gif OMG! You've had 8 thunderstorms this year?!!!! I hate you!! lol!!!!!laugh.gif

  11. posted this in storm reports:

In Topic: Storm Reports July 09'

    afternoon all

just a quick post while me electric is back on, three vicious storms we have had this afternoon, with torrential rain, in addition to the one that rudely awoke me this morning at 6.45. just been to the village and quite a bit of road flood. radar shows we in the firing line for a few hours yet. been the best set of storms for years.

To Be honest we getting battered here in lincolnshire, electric lost about a dozen times now, fantastic radar images for our area.

majority is CG with the od CC

    LO

 ..... B) ..... :drunk: ..... :o ..... ..... :o ..... :o ..... is my response to your storms. Bring out the vodka!!! Time to drown in sorrow!!! lol!!!!

  12. LOL, Starting?

Ive got myself a nice big bottle of vodka for tonight. I cant stand it when its like this. No storms when it appears everyone else has lol

    They just miss me everytime.

I just hope as the stuff moves down from the north i may see something.

 I know right!!! Looking at the photos of the triple tornadoes over Scotland and reading about South_Hollands tornado experience (as to which I am truly chuffed for BTW!) just tipped me over the edge into an unbearable frenzy of stormasitis!!! I think I'm going to turn inside out if I don't get at least some torrential rain.... Looks like we might get something from the north, but I reckon only rain, unless someone from S.Yorks or Manchester area can say if they are getting storms? Looks like Leicester is the victor of my spoils stormwise.. I was so close!!! :drunk: C'est la vie.... stupid Notts sheild is back online

  13. Just logging back on after the storm that hit Leicester. Cackling thunder and frequent C-C and C-G lightning. Viewing it from a distance now, its certainly an impressive looking sight.

That storm was born and bred in Nottingham at 1pm this afternoon :drunk: . It formed literally in like 10 minutes over my house. I only had the priveledge of seeing about 3 CGs out of it, but they were really close!! Scary stuff! and then it drifted south and intensified. Looked really good!!

  14. :o :o :o :o :D people i have the amazing pleasure to announce that i have just seen a wot looked like a full blown tornado and a beautiful funnel cloud(rope type) within 3 miles of eachother from seperate storms!!!!!! :o :D:drunk::clap:

sorry if im a little crazy the adrenaline is still pumping a little!I cant believe this, its my first thunder of the year and i get two .... no three great events at once!!!!!!!!

    thanks all SHU!

WOW!!!!!! did you get any photos!!!!! I'm so chuffed for you!!! B) more details please!!!!!
