  1. About 95% of the time that's not the case, when cold snowy weather exits the USA and Canada and makes it way across the Atlantic it gets moderated by the mild gulf stream which in turn brings rain once it arrives in the UK rather than snow, infact what we have had today was from the USA and originally it was snow when it was across the Eastern part of the US. And what we get this week coming up will also be from the USA and it will be rain, unfortunately.

and the models are now showing a return to cold in about a weeks time :whistling: ooh i love grandparents

  3. Just been reading the story in the forcasting forum about the storm hitting America as we speakcold.gif some places like Tulsa had 41" in a day!!!! The snow storm cloud is 2700 miles wideshok.gif and 30 plus states are in for a hammering. But the best part is forecasters say "Theres worse to come".

My old grandparents always said if usa got bad snow we would get it about a week later clap.gif and the storm is moving from west america to east, heading our way. NOW THATS HOPINGw00t.gif

  4. Here in Hale, Liverpool not 1 single snow flake. It's cold at 0.1C with a dew point of -2.9C temp has been slowly falling. (optimal conditions you'd think for some snow) Earlier this afternoon we had heavy dark grey clouds no precipitation. Cloudy conditions slowly gave way to partial clear skies with the odd whisp of cloud about.

Seems everywhere but my location has seen a flake or two. We are about roughly 4/5 miles east of Liverpool Airport. I wonder if my area will get anything tonight. Funny how you can be too far west (Liverpool) and be told you will see nothing (then you get snow) then over towards cheshire where we should have been getting something absolutely nothing.

Very strange how it seems everywhere in the region is seeing this snow even the milder west facing coasts, yet further south of the region (mersey) absolutely nothing.

I'm in Warrington and we had the lightest of dustings about an hour ago.

  5. I'm in southern edge of Warrington, none here either. Looking at the motorway cams and various others shows that the showers are giving coverings roughly level with central Manchester northwards - in some parts looks almost as heavy as in southeastern England.

Interestingly, I know temperatures a below zero in many areas of the country, but not so low that gritting wouldn't be effective. However, there doesn't seem to have been much done judging by how easily an inch or two of snow is able to settle. Poor effort considering the notice given, I think a lot of people will be having the day off tomorrow.

I'm in stockton heath and guess what?? its snowing !! but only slightly
