  1. I have just come back form the sale. When I left the house at about 11.30 it was clear blue skies damp on the ground cold but not bitterly so and I thought the forecast had to be wrong.

Having just come back the return journey was with that luminous white/yellow cloud a biting wind and the temperature must have dropped quite a bit.

I wasn't confident this morning that the forecast was right but if it continues as it is and there is liquid falling from the sky tonight I now think it might well snow.

Just shows how the weather changes suddenly

  2. Bah stopped short of going orange here I expect it won't make it this far, I reckon TEITS has been up to something front stalling over Peterborough - lol Good luck to you all!!

Doesn't look like it will make it this far over either or if it does it will be rain. However Reedham looks to be in the firing line and boyfriend is going to be working eight days on the trot over there from tomorrow night so he is going to be snowed on methinks!

  3. Two waves of blizzards and drifting snow especially 25th-27th & 29/30th largely for East/South Britain

Just thought you might like to see this prediction if you haven't seen it already you can read more by googling Piers Corbyn, yes I know he is kind of mocked but its intereresting.Doesn't look like anything will happen today still clear hereI'm going out later and I don't know if it is as biting cold as it was yesterday.

  4. There's hope for the coast yet!

A minute ago I looked out of the window and nothing was happening so I went into the bathroom to start cleaning it (no windows in there which can be looked out of.Suddenly I heard boyfriend shouting to me came and looked out of bedroom window and saw there is a near blizzard going on outside now with strong gusts of wind and very heavy snowy haily stuff falling.

  5. Ive noticed an interesting pattern in our winters since the winter of 85/86.

Winters 85/86, 90/91, 95/96, 2000/01, 2005/06,none of those winters would be considered mild some even below average. Each one of those winters was colder then the previous few before it,it seems that with this pattern we have been getting a colder winter then the previous few before it every 5 yrs since the winter 85/86,and the next winter in this pattern is 2010/11.

Winter 85/86 was colder then the winters 84/85,83/84,82/83. Winter 90/91 was colder then winters 89/90,88/89,87/88. Winter 95/96 was colder then the winters 94/95,93/94,92/93. Winter 2000/01 was colder then the winters 99/2000,98/99,97/98. Winter 2005/06 was colder then the winters 2004/05,2003/04,2002/03. So if this pattern continues this winter that would mean this winter being even colder then last yr and the way this winter has started i would not bet againest it.

Thats a very interesting analysis and something to keep an eye on for furture years in the pattern

I think they all got used up in Melbourne on Saturday so stocks are probably running low now !

Have a look at this Hail Storm that hit Melbourne in Australia on March 6, 2010 and you will see what I mean.

Hello mks, thanks for video link, I knew it had been prett bad there, amazing video of it!

quite chilly here and overcast now but no weather happening.

  8. I have tended to lurk in the summer mianly because I prefer wintry weather, and to try to guess when its going to happen.

I particularly look out for Steve M, Nick Sussex, and Snowmans posts, not forgetting TEITS, and maybe a couple of others whose usernames I forget right away. All are informative and helpful to those of us who are struggling to understand the charts, or if we do understand them, strugglin to understand why the weather may turn out in a certain way.

  9. found online while surfing

The Tesco outside Lowestoft had a large gathering of ducks just by the entrance and there used to be food and water bowls for them. The last time I visited there were signs inside the store windows saying "do not feed the ducks". A solitary male waited for a few crumbs by the exit

I just wish to make it clear that Southern man and myself did not feed any ducks at Tesco today, in fact, we didn't even see any ducks there.

    Sincerely

    JJ

  10. oh, and whoever it was who said something about seagulls and cold weather there were loads of them at tescos as well, fighting with the ducks for the bits of hot cross bun we were feeding them.Southernman was teasing them by throwing bits high into the air to see if they could fly and eat at the same time but one was really skilled at catching it before it hit the ground.

It was considerably colder when we came out than when we went in.

    conditions here now very overcast.
