I am currently studying Geography and Environmental Management (now 2nd year) 60 credits of my course is just on Climate change the amount of scientific evidence and new papers being published are overwhelming our understanding of past climates is key to how the climate in the future will behave. There is a proven link for ice core, pollen sampling, and marine coring between CO2 levels and the temperature of the climate at that time. Currently C02 are way above levels that have ever ever been recorded. Just because we have 1 cold winter proves absoultly nothing just because our climate may be 2-4 degrees warmer does not mean the UK will always have warm winters we will still have some cold winters some even extreme cold. THEN theres over worrys such as the shutting down of the North Atlantic Conveyor belt which would in-turn make the UK much colder equivent to that of say western russia without the warm currents from the carribean warming up the UK, however we dont fully understand this yet! this conveyer seems to turn off and then on again in a cyclic process known as Dansgaard-Oeschger events.
wow rant over haha - bit off topic
