  1. Ah lads, any chance of the storms turning sharp left for Ireland? I moved here three years ago, one reason is there seemed to be a good chance of storms here, rather than the Surrey Storm Shield, which I see now is just about invisible for strike icons!  stained glass window's sake! Hope youre enjoying it all. As if I need a storm, Ive just got in from finishing a show garden at a flower show and dont need me dahlias smashed up by the wind!

  2. Any experts with a theory as to why last nights thunder sounded quite so angry? Clearly not just me as a few posts alluding to it. Storm was overheard yes but the thunder was easily the most intense I have experienced in a long time

doesn't sound travel quicker and more clearly through dry air? given the instability, it hasn't been that humid here, don't know about your location...? It always scares the carp out of me out here in the country as there's less urban areas to soak the sound up!

  3. Has anyone ever had thunderfog?   Come on Norfolk, you can surely squeeze out a little cloud parp later......

we get thunderfog here on the hills in west limerick - on alert today, we've actually had no rain here for over two weeks now, but last night the farmers were baling hay until 3am in the fields around us like they knew something - it's like a scene from Mad Max with all the various contraptions tractor and lights so it is!  We so need the rain, our well has dried up twice this year, plus i love a good storm we're 400ft up in the hills here looking out towards kerry, at the moment looking at radar right between the two cells of action in Ireland at the moment. lets hope the action moves up in a nice north westerly direction!

  4. Re Ireland Weather - Basically, at any given time of the year, you can experience all four seasons in the day.

The weather can change minute to minute. especialy the nearer you are to the coast/mountains. But by Jaysus when the sun comes out here at this time of year, it splits rocks!

I use www.met.ie, fairly accurate, but as I said Be Prepared!

  5. My last close brush with lightning was 2005/6, summer - I was working at a garden centre in shepperton, a storm was brewing and I was standing in the carpark, when I felt the hairs on the back of my neck go up - I ran for the shop and turned to see a big pink flash hit a tree across the road - since then that's me hooked - not scared at all, more in awe.

A few flashes and rumbles here yesterday, more north of us, is that REALLY it for now lol

  6. Hello stormgazers from west limerick in ireland - hope you all have some luck tonight and your cousins over here hope to get a few hand me downs lol! been a very strange day here weatherwise - the temp and humidity been up and down like a fiddler's elbow most of the afternoon, now feeling chilly here - I moved here from sunbury in middlesex a few years ago and will be watching the radars, probably feeling a bit homesick - What's your opinions on my chances over here, learned friends if I may ask?
