Its not about your high tech, multi functioning home forecasting models now. It's who's got the brightest, and nearest street light.
Twitchers ready for a long night/numerous reprimands from the other half..."it's not going to snow!!"

Nice big flakes here in Liverpool. Getting darker too, the sun was out for the last 20 minutes of snow, but thats gone, and the sky is assuming that steel grey look..
-
light, but constant snow again in Liverpool. The car is again covered, after a spin out totally defrosted it all. Another inch mabees?
-
Not quite Jan 25th, but a really good fall so far. Settling readily now and the road which was just slush/water about 2 hours ago, now starting to whiten. The downside I suppose is having to miss Milton Jones in Southport tonight, public transport warnings from Merseyrail. I guess I'll catch him again, some sunny day..
-
Something tells me that Liverpool is getting the best of this fall?! Very unlike Liverpool to lead the way in any field recently..(Says a loyal Tranmere fan)

Seems everyone east of me e.g. from Runcorn has heavy snow with massive flakes, whilst all I have is light snow with tiny flakes. Such small margins. I won't be getting much from this if it stays the same though, might be time to give up
Well, I'm in Wavertree, less than 3 miles away, and its been big fat flakes, sticking to the ground, for about 2 hours now. At least an inch of snow in the last hour, possibly more!

Snow now settling in Wavertree, S Liverpool. If the intensity remains as it has for last hour, could see decent accumulations. Happy days!
-
Continual heavy snow, big flakes, here in South Liverpool. Not much in the way of settlement though, I guess a fraction of a degree might make all the difference. The cars are just starting to whiten up again...The first real sign.
-
Blizzard-like conditions for last 30 minutes at least, snow coming in sideways. Wow!
-
Oh well, if nothing comes of it, we can all 'blame it on the weatherman' Doh!
-
Just a few flakes here in South Liverpool, though the biting cold is giving me stiff little fingers....
-
Yup, intensifying in last 10 mins, and great sight for the old lampost watchers...
-
moderate snow here inn South Liverpool. About 1 inch so far, but if anything getting slightly heavier. Can see it staying around for most of the night. Possible 5-8 cm?
-
Very marginal here in South Liverpool. Snizzle falling, with the general gut feeling of some heavier stuff only minutes away. Flakes just starting to look like they mean business, and more promising than 30 mins ago.
-
Fine, powdery snow here in Wavertree. Leaden skies, and a covering developing already. A day of window watching for me..
-
My Temp -3.6C and falling very slowly, id be surprised if we cracked -6C tonight with the way things are going.

Garston -1.6C
Liverpool Airport -1C
Positively tropical lol
Just checked the meto forecast for sunday, light snow for the south of the region from what I can see.
Sunday Liverpool light snow, afternoon light snow and overnight snow showers, whilst runcorn has light snow from sunday through monday morning.
We are at -3.6 here at the Liverpool end of the M62. Obviously through the wind-chill factor, it feels far colder than this time last evening.
-
6.6 below in Sarff Liverpool, Indeed, a cold 'un.
-
Finally reached -11c here. I had hopes of Altnaharra breaking -20c tonight but the temperature there has risen 0.1c in the last hour from -17.2c to -17.1c.
Probably find that -20 will be achieved tonight, though the -27 a long way off. Possibly -21/22 achieved...?
Whatever happens, I have to say, for the lovely people like ourselves, the snow/cold/heat/extreme lovers, this really has, and will be, a record breaking spell of inclement weather.
Long may it continue!
-
Paddy Power going 12/1 on the Uk coldest temp of -27.2 being beaten
Any takers?
I don't envisage the record low being beaten, but, I think lots of areas may get record minima tonight alone. The Wirral is looking good for a modern day record. Mr Prudence, could you be prudent, (cough) enough to let me know what the recent record is for the Wirral, being a Moreton lad myself...

-6.3 here in Wavertree, and dropping like a stone. Fully expecting a double figure minus tonight.
-
What a great day snow watchers. Have had over 12cms of snow in Liverpool, (Wavertree) though just 2 miles down the road where I work only 4 cms.
Had the most treacherous 400m walk home, after i got dropped off @8pm, BUT my old favourite lamppost for watching the flakes has disappeared, behind a tree that looks like a xmas postcard!
-2.5 here now, roads almost impassable. I'm bloody made up!!!!
-
Heavy, fine snow in liverpool, flakes appear to be getting larger. Lovely grey hue to the sky...more to come????
-
Very light snow here in Liverpool, with approx 1-2cms overnight. Haven't give up hope though, may get a further couple of cms next few hours. Got work at 1pm. Bloody missus is a school teacher, a non working one today as well! Hope she doesn't think of disturbing my cricket/NW watching!
