  1. My guess is that December will start off mild and changeable for the first week and then turn into a very cold month .. Overall the biggest risk to having substantial snowfall is from Christmas onwards. January will be a very cold month with mild interludes short lived and February will be a mixed month (Based on a Strong -NAO if that occurs)
  2. Hunch - Next week will start to cool down and becoming quite cold by the end of this month. we will see our first snows in November.Intermittently we will have cold snaps lasting anything up to ten days. Little or no mild interludes (temporary rise in temperatures). Plenty of snowfalls and a lot more frosts than we have had in recent years. A much colder winter than we had last year
  3. Looks more like mid October than the beginning of September..A lot of trees have changed colour and some trees have even shed their leaves. This Autumn seems to be more pronounced than previous autumns
  4. The above buoy seems to be spewing out faulty data. It was actually -3 degrees and not - 11 degrees. So much for technology
  5. NOAA have predicted a strong La Nina.
  6. Latest temperatures from (Pops -13) shows temperatures of -11 degrees celsius.
  7. It is pitch dark at 9pm and gets darker earlier when it rains
  8. Very poor although we had some good thunderstorms
  9. Foliage has started to change colour and blackberries are beggining to appear a month in advance Sign of things to come ???
  10. December January and February to be cold overall with more snow this winter than last. I am basing this on a strong negative NAO.along with a moderate/strong La Nina Incidentely some parts of Siberia reached 19 degrees while we froze last January
  11. Mixed August and September followed by a pleasantly warm and dry October.(NAO briefly going negative for October before flipping back) and them commeth the winter
  12. Some American sites are suggesting a weak to moderate La Nina, negative NAO which would last till mid march and also a negative AO. Early days yet but none the less a sobering thought.
  13. We have had torrential downpours in Dublin, parts of the greater Dublin are are flooded. Parts of the m50 that were closed are been opened again
  14. Looks very similar to the winter predicted for 2007/2008. Anyway it wont be any harm if we have another mild winter as some people will struggle with the impending rise in fuel prices
