  1. hmmm, i have just had a quick look on the metcheck website and for my area it says Tuesday is a case of a snow event aswell? They say that a total of 32mm of snow is predicted with 6hours being heavy snow, initally starting as sleet....any input on this? If this is true im really but
  2. Ok cheers, music to my ears haha, erm, current temp here is 0.1C and falling. Much of the snow has melted away from roads and footpaths and turned slushy and icy, leaving very dangerous and slippery conditions, although on the top of my shed and in a 'part' of my back garden theres a thick blanket, 5-6cm deep and drift against the fence of 8cm deep if only it stuck everywhere else lol , looking forward...once again... to sunday/mondays event, I just hope temps stay low this time for snow to definatly be a factor, instead of turning to a type of sleet and drizzly rain...
  3. Are all the charts looking towards a snow event for the midlands on Sunday/Monday? If so, is it looking any good?
  4. Ahhhh why the heck is the band being pulled apart, the location of me is where the precip is fizzling out!!! i thought we were supposed to have heavy snow? Currently 0.5C and sleet, thaw is taking place...grrrr lol
  5. Moderate snow now falling. We were supposed to be right in the thick of it, but looks as if all the heavier precipitation is further north towards leicester and northampton......is this heavier precip going to sink south towards my area? How are you all doing up there?
  6. What is this band doing now? Is it going to stall and then move southeast? and will it maintain it's intensity? By the way, absolutly chucking it down, even though the radar does NOT show this, a new, fresh layer of snow, woppee
  7. VERY HEAVY snow here now, sizes of 50p and have turned everything white again!!! Woohoo
  8. I really hope not, i didnt pay for the radar for the expectations lol, i don't think it shows that anyway...
  9. Yeah, a really strong band pushing up now, thing is, is that the main band?? , the BBC suggested that the main band was here ages ago, there is also precip to the north which has gone around us, but this does sink south though? Really, from the looks of it now, councils have shut schools for no reason........severe weather warning....erm naaaaa lol
  10. Oh my goodness, what a real shock..........have just woken up to find NO SNOW seems to have fallen here, all snow on the ground at present is from yesterday, patchy and horrible, and were supposed too be in the thick of it
  11. Well im off to get some kinda sleep lol, bak on 5am ish, cya guys, TC
  12. Hmmm, 0.2C here and the precip is falling as a kind of sleet.....I just hope the temperature drops further than thisss!!!!
  13. Just looking at the A38 Kennford webcam in Exeter, traffic is at a standstill and it looks as if cars are turning around into the traffic?
  14. Anyone know of any live webcam links for the A38 Kennford motorway? I have this one http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/webcams/ca...c_new_southwest , but a refresh is needed every 2mins ish.........?
  15. He has finished speaking now, but heres the link : http://www.bbc.co.uk/cornwall/ - listen live
  16. Wow, cornwall is interesting......ROB Mcelwee is on BBC Radio cornwall ... And, just looking at the A38 Kennford webcam...nothing moving as of yet.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/webcams/ca...c_new_southwest
  17. I dont get what the wind vectors are on the netweather radar.....im guessing it's the 700 and 850hpa we look at? The 700hpa bring the front North and NW and the 850hpa bring the front north westwards ish...?
  18. Oh, and is the precip moving north along the West mids and wales and then being blown east to properly affect Oxford/Reading/Bucks etc , and THEN moving back to the south east and leaving late Friday afternoon, thats how i work it out from the way it is travelling now....
  19. Does the metoffice not update their rainfall forecasts? BBC forecast snow right over my area, slap bang in the middle of it, but yet the metoffice are saying sleet AND the precip on the chart is way way south from me, maybe just along the M4 corridor....
  20. Well near enough all schools in the Buckinghamshire region are closed for tomorrow as a decisions needed to be made before 4.30pm, due to notices issued of a 'severe weather event' affecting the area, stated as ''worse than todays''. So really, if the West gets it tonight instead of whats forecast, I think that would be a biggg slip up lol
  21. As the front makes landfall on the south coast, it should pepp up shouldnt it? Otherwise it looks really wrong lol!
  22. Ahhhh i dont believe it, having a pretty quick thaw here already!!! Lets hope that that precipitation that is near me is of heavy snow as you guys say in Oxford, was the snow thawing in Oxford a bit before this precipitation this morning??
  23. Oh wow, would have been wise to put GRIT on the roads, especially the hills.....just listening to my local radio station and motorists trying to get up the hills are ending up sliding back down again and hitting each other!!! People are also abandoning their vehicles because they can't get up through the hills AND many of the roads coming INTO Aylesbury are closed or blocked!!!! What chaos LOL!!!
  24. REPOST - Lost Amongst All The Other Posts lol Awesome stuff!!! Here we have atleast 4-5cm, thick carpet covering everything!! , The most snow iv seen here since February 2006, and this event easily beats Mondays by a clear mile......and a bonus......wasnt even forecast this amount of snow, rather NO snow by morning due to it turning back to rain......how cool is that. BUT, is this going to be short lived. Is the snow going to melt in the oxford/Buckinghamshire/Reading areas??? Is rain going to wash it away later in the day?....(i hope not!!!) !!!
