  1. I see that the Coatbridge snow shield has started up now that there is talk of the white stuff! Looking at the radar the big blob looks to be breaking up :-(
  2. Oh well I must say I'm disappointed as was expecting a lot more than we got today. I guess the Met Office must have had only that Yellow warning for a reason. Oh well at least everyone is safe. Merry Christmas everyone
  3. If I had any in-laws and a car and there was going to be a storm I'd be off in a sec hahaLittle bit of convection here in Coatbridge. Maybe it will develop and give a good dumping to those further north.
  4. I know exactly how you feel! Same here a few miles down the road.
  5. Not happy with the situation here in Coatbridge. There was a fair amount of snow on the ground when I went to bed last night but when I woke up this morning there was less despite it still snowing. The snow has now intensified in the last hour so I just looked out of the window and guess what? Its all melted! Every last bit of it.
  6. Can also confirm whiteout conditions at my location. Everything covered including the main road.
  7. Still sleet here in Coatbridge. The light flickered a couple of times there but not sure if that has anything to do with the weather!
  8. Looking out of the 11th floor of Glasgow University library and the sky looks very dramatic but very little coming out of it! I seem to be in that endless radar hole that seems to be stopping all snowy activity in the city.
  9. Snow getting a bit heavier here in Coatbridge, on all the pavements, side roads and cars.
  10. Not surprised looking at the radar that my area of North Lanarkshire is missing out again! That mass of heavy rain that caused so much trouble in the borders is disappearing as soon as it gets near Airdrie and that lump of heavy rain that hit Cumbernauld has just skipped over to Glasgow rather than come down to me in Coatbridge, same as what happened yesterday. It's seems that we have developed one of those protective shields here that will not allow in thunderstorms in the summer and snow in the winter lol!
  11. Hey folks nice to see everyone back on here again. Looking forward to this event, a big difference from last week anyway. Sorry to go off topic I am looking for a decent weather app for my ipad, any suggestions? Something that is accurate and shows temp, humidity and things like that. Have tried a couple but they seem more geared towards the American market. My poor weather station got blew away in one of our famous storms and have been unable to replace it yet!
  12. Wish I had taken a photo of it with my phone! Idiot as I had it on me at the time but was just spellbound with the colours. I am no expert but I asume that it has something to do with dust particles or something like that. I am sure that the disaster prediction websites will be having a field day when they hear about it. Even my dog was acting strange though and wanted to get home from his walk!
  13. Yes I noticed outside here in Coatbridge a strange yellow-pink tinge to everything before it got dark. Was a bit worried at first thought there may have been a fire somewhere or something worse, it looked very strange indeed.
  14. Just listened to the main newscast on BBC Radio 4. 30 mins of news from all over Britain but not a word on Thursday's storm! I'm sure if it was happening in London and the South East of England then it would be a different story!!
  15. Just heard on Newsdrive on Radio Scotland that the Government will be meeting later tonight to discuss if schools and bridges should be shut for part of tommorrow.
  16. Getting a bit rough here now just outside Glasgow. A friend in Northern Ireland has texted to say that the public have been advised to stay out of all parks in Londonderry due to the number of trees that have already fallen.
  17. Evening folks. Not sure what to make of this one. The BBC forecasts on Radio 4 advice people to keep checking furture forecasts but they don't seem to be taking it very seriously so far. (Of course we have to remember that London and the South East don't look like being affected that much and to some in the metoffice the south east is the uk!). I some how have a bad feeling about this one as I have been tracking this storm since it developed in the tropics. Time of course will tell. Rob.
  18. Afternoon everyone, after a day of thawing the snow seems to be landing back on the cars outside here in Coatbridge, although looking at the radar it seems about to stop soon!
  19. Hi guys, Not been on this forums for ages. Its raining here in Coatbridge! Temp is 4c now, it was -5c this morning! Anyway lets hope the cold air gets here soon. Rob.
  20. evening all, good luck to everyone tomorrow, not expecting much myself as I think that the mountains to the north will break everything up and it will be very patchy but hey you never know. Temperature outside here in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire is -2.3c, not looking forward to a cold early start tomorrow! Night everyone.
  21. No for getting it wrong. They had complaints about all the schools being closed in the Borders today as they were forcasting a white out and it rained for most
  22. Hi everyone, Just heard a weather forcaster from the met office say sorry to us in Scotland on the PM Programme on BBC Radio 4. They then warned us in the central belt that the snow band will return from the north to affect us at the rush hour tommorrow. We wait and see
  23. Evening everyone, been a good day for snow here in Coatbridge but I think there is a thaw on now, l can see the snow melting off the trees drip by drip and the snow seems to be more sleety now. Rob.
  24. Lets hope so as we always seem to miss out on these things. I am a wee bit worried though that the Met Office warnings seem to stop at the border
