  1. Does this mean then that the showers will become heavier and more frequent after midnight then? Could you or anyone explain what a streamer is? Thanks GLS
  2. That is just typical I really hope you are wrong, but deep down if Im honest I bet you will be right. Hoping for a covering by morning please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. A wise choice if you don't mind me saying. Perhaps you will bring lots of snow with you LOL
  4. I really hope you and Dave are right, about the depth thing, I don't really care i will happily settle for 1 to 2 cm. Fingers crossed, Good luck LO
  5. That looks very interesting and well spotted LO. I'm hoping this will affect both you and I, when would you expect it to arrive here?
  6. We have had snow showers on and off all day, still nothing on the ground except a few grains, hoping for much more tonight and tomorrow. What would you say my chances are? Very suprised to hear off 2cm in Nottingham, well done to you.
  7. Just started snowing here, Ive counted 3 little flakes whoooooooooooooooooooooo
  8. I haven't watched them since half 6 and clearly there have been developments. Im not keen on Darren Bett at this time of year, give my Rob Mc anyday of the week, he would love forecasting the cold and snow. Those around these parts will know that Paul Hudson is a definate cold weather lover and gave a lot of detail about the possible snow this weekend and early next week. I will tune in at half 10 to see if things have changed
  9. Those are excellent pictures, I especially like the way the snow has stuck on the cars I dont think I have ever seen that before.
  10. I personally only look at weatheronline to spot if it supports what has been said on the model discussion forum. One thing I have noticed however is that it varies greatly, especially the weekly symbols and temperatures they show. It doesn't look that cold next week really, although this will probably have changed by tomorrow
  11. I can remember a couple of years ago around October time that 'nature' was showing signs of preparing for a severe winter. I read this on TWO I believe. This was based on squirrels gathering a lot more nuts than normal and a very quiet autumn period lacking in wind and rain, in fact I recall it was like summer until late October! Anyway the winter came and like the past unmteen winters was mild to very mild. You could say that nature got it wrong then
  12. Those are really lovely photos, you are very lucky indeed
  13. Got excited earlier as I was driving to the shop, I though it was sleeting!!!!!! Guess what though, it was.........RAIN!!!! Temperature rising slowly as we enter the warmer sector and still waiting for some snow. I really hope we get some soon, good luck everyone else
  14. Lovely photos taken in a very beautiful part of the country. I am quite suprised with the depth of snow, the weather forcasts on the bbc didn't seem to show that much. Could I have some of the white stuff please, are you selling it on ebay?
  15. Great pictures from both of you. You seem to get all the fun, still waiting here on the east coast. I must admit NW are not my favourite type, bring on the N, NE or E. Keep up the good work guys!!
  16. Those pictures are truley magical and are stunning. It just goes to show how cold it has been over the last 2 weeks. I just love these long cold spells, hope we don't have to wait too long for the next one. Just to add when I dropped my wife off in Grimsby town centre this morning there were foot long icicles hanging from the Wilkinsons building and thats 1 mile from the sea!!!
  17. Some lovely photos there, it must really help being so high up. I can remember from when I lived in Wakefield seeing the snow over Emley Moor, we often had nothing. As for Grimsby, not a single drop of sleet, just rain. Keep up the good work
  18. Absolutely nothing here, temperature about 0c. It rained instead or snow. Well I suppose being only 6m asl didn't help. Very jealous of those further south. I'm really gutted!!
  19. Truely beautiful pictures, I'm very impressed with the amount of ice about!!
  20. A very interesting read. I remember it well myself for different reasons. I used to live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire before moving to Grimsby 5 years ago. It snowed heavily for nearly 2 days and we must have had a foot of snow. I have never seen it as deep before or since. I can remeber walking to the Chinese takeaway with my dad, couldn't wait to walk in it.
  21. Staying cold all week highs around 2-4oC. Below freezing at night if there is no cloud cover. Graphics showed high extending to Iceland allowing a NE wind to develop around Thursday. Showed snow for Friday around East Anglia and South East. He mentioned not amounting to very much. Hopefully that will change nearer the time. Hope this covers it. A pretty dry week in all. Thank god for Sky+
  22. Here in Grimsby we had about 2cm in November from that very potent northerly, thing was though me and the wife we shopping at Meadowhell, I mean hall so I missed it Had a lot of sleety stuff this morning and over the last few nights, not bad considering its only December the 4th!!!
