the met office says it is to come on wednesday night but what do they know <_<
-
net weather radar still shows it as being snow everywhere north and west of the wash
-
it does look good
what happened to that low from the south east that they were worried about?
-
Disappointed so far
Thursday is starting to look good though.
where abouts in fife are you?
-
sorry read it wrong
-
here is some sat data
http://www.sat24.com/ looks interesting
yes, very
according to this the main front is approaching soon!!
-
i think we should ok for snow as temp is around 0C and dropping and dew point is well below freezing
although we are only 8 miles from the coast we are at an ok elevation and we do tend to get snow if edinburgh gets sleet
-
do you think it will stay as snow here tonight?
-
have had lots of snow here, though only an inch or so lying around
its just stopped again, but the radar looks good for more easterly snow here for at least a couple of hours before the big hit tonight
as for the gfs, i checked the situation at three and while the precipitation type chart shows rain/sleet up as far as lincoln, only about maidstone got sleet at 4 so i think it should stay as snow till at least the morning
by the way, have any of you seen the current 'extreme!!Take action!' warning for the northeast?
Surely they'll put that out for us in a few hours
-
an extreme dusting indeed
the traffic scotland camera's seem to show lying snow somewhere near tayport but that is ridiculously localised snow
-
Hi cwpiper
Don't have access to NW radar details, which site are you using?
Would be great to know if we can expect anything here in eastern lowlands/Fife tonight?
Ta
Karen
i'm using the nw radar which currently shows a large bank of light snow east of us
its currently snowing lightly here and it started about an hour and a half ago
hopefully it will give a decent covering by tomorrow
as for east lothian it looks like the snow will be less persistant but there should still be some snow about. check outside
try meteogroup as they do quite an in depth radar every 15 minutes and do precipitation radar quite far out to sea
http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weathe...ed_kingdom.html
Latest forecast on N24 was disappointing to say the least. He said "little in the way of snow for Scotland tonight and tomorrow and any showers that do show up will probably be of rain or sleet near the coast".
Great.
hah, we have snow now
been goin for an hour and a half
the beeb obviously doesn't check the netweather radar
-
looks like the intensity of the showers in the north sea has increased a bit according to the current radar-maybe a little snow tonight here?
-
we still have an early warning out for tuesday with '20-30cm possible'!!!
-
are the met office likely to ramp up our warnings at some point in the next 12 hours??
-
sleety granules
looks like there is more where that came from though
-
when and where are these showers expected to make landfall?
oh, too late (i think)
i can see snow to the east of here coming down heavily
gritters just went past twice
i think it might be interesting for tomorow morning as well as the obvious tuesday snow (if it stays cold enough) here
-
is it likely to snow at about 70m above sea level and about 10 miles inland (bearing in mind that we have a 500m hill south west of us?
-
looks like snow for us until midnight then dry for a few hours then more snow by 4am
tuesday looks best though and if it stays cold enough we could have tonnes by wednesday
currently dry but very cloudy looks like showers will keep going this evening
-
radar showing showers off the coast of fife
-
-
about 6 degrees celsius here with not too disimilar to the weather in suffolk : dry, hazy, with a strong easterly wind and some lenticularis clouds around
-
fife tends to do better out of easterlies than other parts from experience, and the current runs are looking good for snow sunday, monday and into tuesday
i have no confidence in the met office warnings as they are most often wrong eg. the dumping of snow that was meant to hit us in mid january and various events where snow wasn't even forecast but came
here's hoping..
-
hopefully 5-10 cm in fife but more likely 2-5cm.
but who knows, if it starts lying early enough and keeps going I may get a day off on monday
