  1. Snow melted from last night and became sleety. I am not sure if you have this on your favourites but Dartmoor has had another good covering! http://www.dartcom.co.uk/dartcam/dartcam.j...e=1233831038000
  2. Light snow in east Devon but temperatures fairly high at 3.5C how come? Is this due to the wind strength, inversion or low dew points with colder air aloth? It rainned yesterday at 1C so I do not get this!??
  3. The Met Office forecasts snow as seen below. Devon and Somerset is part of the West country right? Any snow for the Blackdown Hills, or near Illminster/Chard way? 60% Wales 60% South West England 60% West Midlands 60% East Midlands Heavy Snow 0100 Thu 5 1500 Thu 5 There is a high risk of a severe weather event affecting parts of the Midlands, the West Country and southern and eastern Wales during Thursday. An area of snow will move in from the south during the early hours of Thursday and will continue through the morning and into the afternoon. There will be accumulations of 2 to 5 cm of snow in general, with 5 to 10 cm likely in places and 20 to 30 cm possible over higher ground. This will cause disruption to travel across the region. Issued at: 1047 Wed 4 Feb
  4. Any chance for snow around Blackdown hills, Illminster or Chard area, (South Somerset) tonight [Wednesday night] or is this borderline?
  5. Any chance for snow around Illminster or Chard area, (South Somerset) tonight or is this borderline?
  6. Has the BBC made an error showing rainfall on the map with a temperature of 4C to 5C along the South of England when the Met Office forecasts minimums of -2 to -4C with a frost and ice quite widely, which is the opposite of BBC weather forecast as seen below showing rain at 5C by 03:00am Wednesday morning?! http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/charts/uk/uk_...in_09020402.jpg We have just had a shower of ice-pellets not hailstones - very unusual. I think it was sleety!

  8. Darmoor isn't doing badly with more snow as seen in below webcam: http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/content/webcams...or_webcam.shtml Snow melting here but patchy with 2" or 5cm in places.
  9. Good covering of snow over Dartmoor as seen in below webcam, take a look. http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/content/webcams...or_webcam.shtml Back here about 2" of lying snow Sean
  10. Snow flurry started again huge flakes but powdery snow at -1.5C Only 17 miles away [westwards] in Exeter it remains dry! Most of the snow went to Blackdown hills northwards towards Exmoor and Quantocks. Friend in Taunton said snow started about 1" so far.

  12. Did I hear that all London buses have stopped operating now due to weather??? - Bring it on to Devon please with respect! Meanwhile snow keeps falling in central London - Leicester Square http://www.radissonedwardian.co.uk/leicester-sq-webcam.html How thick is it anyone? How does this compare to February 91?
  13. Just had a light snow flurry now skies clearing.
  14. Is it me or is the precipitation band of snow moving further west quicker than originally thought? Friends of mine reported light snow shower in Wiltshire and they were not expecting snow until tonight??? Started snowing here, only snow gains!
  15. Take a look at this chart, shows snow almost everywhere in the SW but Turning to rain further east: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/...304816f8c54433b Why is it turning milder from the east and not the SW? Not that I care I just wondered?
  16. I think tomorrow will be similar to the December 2002 snow event. I am expecting a about 3cm of snow and not much more over Dartmoor but perhaps 5cm to 8cm over Exmoor as it is further north. Could also be more snow over Quantocks and Cotswolds. How about this for the south west, snow could fall and lie at lower levels come Tuesday, even coastal areas, but notice thatb the snow is turning back to rain further east leaving the SW with more persisiant sleet and snow: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/...304816f8c54433b http://212.100.247.145/gfsimages/gfs.20090...ctypeuktopo.png What does the BBC 1 countryfile weather have in store?
  17. Channel low? When did we last see one of those? http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn481.png
  18. There could be snow anywhere by Monday evening, accept Penzance according to the weather online precipitation chart below: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/...550556effea4412 I think the Moors have a good chance of seeing a covering and by the looks of things, it does appear to be turning milder from the SE, instead of the SW when it usually starts to turn milder.
  19. It is all comming from the east! http://212.100.247.145/gfsimages/gfs.20090...ctypeuktopo.png
