  1. Wet, chilly and windy so far this evening. Temp hasn't really moved from 4.7° for most of the evening. Wife just away to bed to read a book and listen to the rain blowing off the windows. Pity for her it's blowing off the windows at the other side of the house, she won't hear much.
  2. I'm liking what I'm reading here, all the better for it coming at a weekend too, get to enjoy it with the son. Fingers crossed
  3. Thanks skywatcher, wasn't sure if I'd changed something my side.
  4. I wouldn't know one model from another but I do like it when a couple of posters that do use terms like snowfest and snow train. Nice one, hoping it comes off, I do enjoy a wee bit of snow. Edit: A bit off the topic from weather but I used to be able to see peoples locations, where did they all go, did I change something?
  5. Nice to see a see return to more seasonal temps, first morning in a while where I'll have to take the kettle out with me to the car. Jut reading all your posts, I'm looking forward to see what the next week/weeks have in store.
  6. Nice one. Clear skies over in the east though and with a bit of wind it's chilly enough out there.
  7. Well, it won't be the Christmas weather everyone wished for but regardless, hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Merry Christmas folks.
  8. Another beautiful crisp frosty morning. Loving the weather recently with crisp and foggy mornings, I'd be delighted if winter gave us plenty of this rather than anything damp and dreary, long may it last.
  9. That gave me a real genuine lol, brilliant, thank you Pomeroysnow for that gem.
  10. Well I'm just in from cutting the grass, it's been growing rightly through the winter so far, suppose that's one benefit of not getting any of the white stuff, I can keep it trimmed. I need some excuse not to get down about the lack of frost and snow this winter.
  11. Big flakes at the minute and everything covered again this evening.
  12. Not overly big flakes but coming down rightly in Glengormley. Everything covered as there had been a bit of a covering from earlier. Wasted my time clearing the car windscreen earlier as I've an early start tomorrow morning and the snow that was on it had frozen. It's completely covered again.
  13. First post of the winter for me and it was pretty much to say what gingercat said but then we live fairly close anyhow.
  14. I can't really give you any advice on that particular model but for what it's worth I also bought my first weather station which hasn't arrived yet either. I checked round various model reviews and to be honest pretty much all of them were getting mixed reviews so I ended up getting this one. OS WMR100N Most folks seem to recommend Davis models but tbh they're pretty much out of my price range and even at that some of them had their own issues, so I figured all I can do is give a cheaper model a chance. That one of yours looks pretty decent, La Crosse models seemed quite popular when I was researching. I'm sure someone can give you much better advice about that particular model although this particular section of the forums seems quite slow. I'm not sure what the forum rules are concerning linking to other forums so if I'm making a bit of a blunder here I apologise but here's a couple of links to forums where you might find information on that particular product. 15. Bit of a thaw going on this evening, snow seems to be dissapearing quite quickly although still a bit lying yet. Started raining about 15mins ago.
  16. Just regarding the thermometer temps, see a few posts up. This is what I use, hopefully using something like this isn't banworthy on a weather forum. Where it hangs: Current temp: As you can see it isn't something you find on the gadget show but is using something like this a waste of time or can it be regarded as moderately acurate. Maybe my wifes frosty attitude has some bearing on it as well.
  17. Hi Baltic, glad you liked the pics. The thermometer isn't in the car, it's a simple looking thing that hangs off our washing line, it's the sort you'd see maybe in the likes of a garden centre. I've maybe mentioned before I've no idea how accurate it is and I've no doubt it's cheap, my dad had a couple and gave me one. Will post a pic just to clarify what type it is and if it's crap or not.
  18. Thermometer currently reading -8, was -11 around 7am today before going to work. Stopped off on way home from work to see the river Lagan that was frozen. Thanks to Jello for the heads up yesterday, was outstanding seeing it. Here's a couple of pics I took.
  19. Those photos are fantastic Jello, I've never seen much more than a bucket of water freeze never mind the Lagan. I work over east Belfast so might stop off tomorrow and see what it's like on my way home.
  20. Currently snowing lightly here which is covering cars etc.. again although there's been very little thaw since last night.
  21. Just on the subject of thermometers, I only have a cheapo thing you'd pick up in the likes of a garden centre and have always wondered if it's accurate or not. It's currently reading approx -3.8 and judging by the temps posted by mac it's maybe not that accurate. I know we would often get snow/frost when others mightn't but I'll maybe look at getting something that is classed as accurate as it would be nice to know for sure. Edit: Just thinking we still have snow lying from the shower that we had last night, there's been very minimal thaw so I suppose it mightn't be too far out.
  22. Just happened to check up to see if anything interesting was in the pipeline only to see the talk of the recent shower in Bangor. Looked out the window and it's coming down lovely, place is white already.
  23. Sent you a PM Big Lad, hopefully it'll help you. Took a walk up Cavehill today with my son who's almost 3, very difficult going in places due to the ice, took a few pics too but they're on wifeys camera and she's away with it at the minute.
  24. I've never remembered it as cold as this either. Not exactly leading edge technology but the wee orange thermometer says it's pretty nippy. http://tinyurl.com/yjso2o8
  25. Yep, got it here as well, has gave everything another covering. Current covering: http://tinyurl.com/yl2otk9
