  1. dry morning so far with sunny intervals appearing through patches of altocumulus. temperature 2.6c; pressure 1027mbs steady
  2. dry and sunny, temperature about 3c, and all lying snow is melting rapidly - a combination of slightly milder air and sublimation. pressure 1021mb, rising slowly.
  3. snow is rapidly melting here too as a result not only of higher temperatures, but also sublimation.
  4. snow began just before 1pm, at first light and very intermittent, but within half an hour much heavier falls began with at first 50p size flakes. as the afternoon wore on snow fell almost continuously, sometimes heavy with large flakes, other times less large, but by onset of night some 2cm level snow had fallen on paths, and road, and more on grassy areas. at times visibility was down to fog limits. the snow finally abated by 8pm and left behind a world of white, although the onset of a slow thaw became apparent two hours later.
  5. not here near the coast. its forecast to remain at or near 1c all night
  6. sad to say that the snow is thawing, albeit slowly but steadily. at this rate there will be little left in the morning. but it sure was nice whilst it lasted
  7. according to the meto observations for 8pm, donna nook was recording a temperature of -0.1c and bridlington 0.2c, so that rather confirms your thoughts
  8. sad to say the snow has stopped here now, and there are signs of thawing. can't complain though - theres about 1cm pretty much everywhere, and its pretty to look at
  9. as night falls the temperature is doing so likewise (its 0.4c at the moment), and more snow is settling theres about 1cm generally, but a little patchy, but this is the first real fall so far this winter, and its nice to see <_< enjoy it folks, i'm off to get my tea B)
  10. yes it does look a bit intense. trouble is the speed of movement southwards gives another couple of hours worth of snow in my area, maybe a little longer at a push.
  11. theres plenty showing on the radar to the north of you arnie22, so as you say its just a blip
  12. this is determinded to give a good covering as once again big flakes are falling, heavily too blazing sunshine and 30c i think <_<
  13. wish i could, but it comes up with "403 - access denied" oops, soory, it doesn't if you use IE, but does with Mozilla.
  14. hello reef whilst the models are very useful they cannot foretell everything, especially as there are more than one to study. it is not a bad idea to have an understanding of basic meteorology anyway, and get to know your own area and its good and bad points weather-wise. thats how i started, and it all makes for good practice true, but you could have gone ski-ing though
  15. hello maxdamageukno1 very true, but thank goodness it was short lived. moderate snow falling but smaller flakes
  16. the snow is falling that fast that visibility here is reduced to fog limits !!!
  17. snow is falling much heavier now, and in larger flakes so it is beginning to settle again
  18. yep, yet another good link thanks again ooops, sorry for the double message. don't quite know how i managed it, but i am working on three computers at the moment. perhaps one of the mods would like to delete this extra one.
  19. tomb raider legend posted the address for this site earlier http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ it shows the rainfall radar in a loop, and is very useful to help guage directional movement EDIT: moderate snow still falling here, but no longer in large flakes and not settling
  20. still snowing here but not as heavy nor as large flake size (yes beverley lass they were lovely) what settling did occcur is now melting, especially on roads and roofs.
  21. snowing rather heavier here now but still not settling EDIT: crikey, i've just turned my head away from the computer to look outside and the snow is now falling very heavily. what is more - its settling too hello grab my graupel thats good news - just blow it down here please
  22. its that narrow band thats crossing over your area at the moment, and has indications of the equivalent of 30mms rain/hour falling from it thats good news
