  1. What does the above chart show knocker? I have no idea how to translate it. Thanks
  2. Yes! And then you see the 18z and some of the responses to it (I know - only one run) and you feel confused ?.... I haven’t a clue what’s going on ?. Need a break from model watching!
  3. I think his days of posting on forums are over sadly. A real shame. But at least he keeps us up to date on Twitter.
  4. I never pay much attention to my iPhone weather app but for some reason it’s exciting when the snow icon shows up!
  5. Waiting for the 18z with half a bottle of wine and half a pint of baileys on board. It had better be a cracker ?
  6. Yep. Remember that one too for you. We have all been through a lot - winter weather wise - actually when you think about it! More disappointments than happiness I believe ? blimey I sound grumpy again! Best get back on the mulled wine!
  7. It definitely does. my word.. just popped to the MAD thread.. that blooming low is still there.. I wish it would stop trying to suck me in.. it can’t happen.. can it?! ??
  8. I was thinking this. But the last time this happened it was modelled to hit he midlands.. then the SW.. where did it hit...? FRANCE I still haven’t got over that. im treating it with extreme caution.. we have all been here before.
  9. We went to The French Pyrenees this summer, drove right to the top of one of the cols.. now I keep looking at the forecast for Gourette and it makes me sad ?. Snow, snow and snow. Wish I was there.
  10. We have been lucky here then. Not that I have a clue if the actual temperature at my sensor broke and I haven’t fixed it! Really cold out there now though.. just walked to Morrisons and it was bitter! I popped in the MAD thread a few times today but all I detect is gloom and doom.. have I misread things?!
  11. Really? It’s been frosty every morning here this week bar Monday?! Snow flurry at lunchtime today too.. (I missed it)... and it’s biting cold out there now.. normally mendip is much colder! Or are you in SM now?
  12. That’s crazy! We’ve had more frosts here this November than I seem to remember for the whole of the last one.. (if I’m remembering rightly ?)
  13. Yes I remember this. I also remember a feature that popped up and came from France and zipped along the south coast at short notice.. does anyone else remember this?
  14. Going to ask this here (forgive me if it’s daft) how far in advance did forecasters have an inkling of the great snowstorms of previous decades? I know nowadays we have far more computer power and modelling systems but just wondered.. we all get false hope from watching models run to run. The most recent years (2010 etc) I seem to remember us not knowing the finer detail until it was literally falling out the sky. Maybe ive just answered my own question
  15. Don’t be sorry! It’s such a shame that it’s FI.. edit.. just re read your post
  16. Did 2010 models produce anything like what we are seeing now though? I can’t remember if they did. I know tonight’s runs are unlikely to happen but just out of curiosity? Plus.. we know that these lows if they ever verify have a nasty tendency of correcting south, therefore France gets the action!
  17. Anyone else suffering from model fatigue?! I know Karlos must be! I’m not as bad as some years but it’s still sucked me in.. it’s just getting it down to T0 now.. seems like we are still chasing dreams. Praying that we do get to see some of that white stuff soon before I actually go insane
  18. I think an eruption has to have time to take effect, so that the ash gets trapped in upper levels of the atmosphere and this then brings temperatures down, it has to also circumnavigate the globe somewhat too - Karakatoa in 1883 is a good example of this. It was a huge eruption.

  20. Morning all, we are in Belgium for the weekend but I’m keeping my eyes firmly peeled at the MOD discussion and in here, it’s freezi in Belgium too but can’t wait to get home so I can monitor the situation close hand . feeling rather festive and festive weather is definitely going to help! Now, is it too early for a beer breakfast?!
