East Farleigh near Maidstone, Kent. Temp dropped by 1c to 1c in the last hour. Snow starting to settle on grass. I'm down by the river so surprised to see it.

Settling snow near Maidstone. To all those bemoaning rain and high temps, we were in the same boat here. Then suddenly the temp dropped more than 3 degrees in about half an hour, and we had heavy snow. Dont give up!

Heavy very fine snow settling on everything on top of Bluebell Hill.
-
Temp and DP have risen 0.2 in the last hour, to 1.9 and 1.6. Snow has turned back to sleet.
-
OK. Snow now. Temp 2.5. DP 2.2.
-
Sleety splodges now on the roof of the verandah. Temp 3.0. DP 2.7.

Snow depth cup update: 9 cm now.

Very fine snow in East Farleigh. +0.5C temp, -0.4C dp. 6 cm the official hard surface level depth score so far.

In Maidstone we were too far South for Monday's snow event, then too far East on Friday. By the look of the radar we'll be too far West today. What's the betting we're too far North tomorrow!

Hi Tom 0cm for me, can't measure dust!
Around half a centimetre for me. Poor first half.

Right, here is the final draw for London and S.E. Snow depth, please read carefully.
(snipped other ties)
East Farleigh (K) (SNIFFER MARK) v. Rochester (K) (DANIEL SMITH)
Daniel, had to put you in, to give Sniffer Mark an opponent!
Ooooh. Local derby. Thanks Tom!

Yes mate, I'll pop the full draw up again.
A further little competition for you all. " The London & S.E Snow Depth Cup" ( 1st Round).
Taking Paul S's list order for his sweepstake, I've compiled a draw of matches, based on your snow depths come 21.00 hours Sunday evening. All you need to do is measure your snow depth at that time and post in this thread. NO CHEATING PLEASE.
Winners of each match-up, will go through to the next round. Should no further snowfall oppurtunities occur in our area for the rest of the Winter season, greatest depth of snow at 21.00 hours on Sunday 20th Jan. shall be deemed the overall winner.
Remember, measure your depth at 21.00 hrs on Sun and post result. No cheating, no Kentimetres, TOWIEmetres or such like, just cms!
It would be an idea if you and your opponent, keep each other posted on how you are doing depth wise, if any.
Just a bit of fun. Enjoy.
Come on people, get your entries in. Think I'd better make cut off point 9 a.m, as snow starting to settle already!
Regards,
Tom.

Am I in time to enter??

Great big flakes falling. A last hurrah for this cold spell before the milder air moves in.

A plonk of the ruler reads 14cm. Everything is quiet and still Lovely!

Since the Met Office is government owned, perhaps we could start a 10 Downing Street e-Petition?

Now reached 20mm. Radar suggests the heaviest rain is now moving away east, as the storm passes, but still plenty of it about. River Medway, which runs past the bottom of the garden, will be in it later today I'm sure. Luckily the garden is steep, so house OK.
-
16mm so far near Maidstone in Kent, 10mm of that in the last 2 hours. Looking at the radar, the rain (which was coming up from the south) has pivoted round to come from the north-west.
-
Hmm. Netweather radar says my house is now under that band, but it's dry here. Odd, the NW radar is usually spot on. Maybe the snow is evaporating before it reaches the ground???
At last, a few flakes.
-
Yes that band does look very nice atm, and heading our way for a change. Hope it maintains that momentum

You can see the first band of continental snow working its way into the south-east now:
-
Just Make it an East Anglia and another thread South East , otherwise it could get confusing and that would be the easiest way
Agree 100%. Posters will migrate to the right place. Don't overcomplicate it.
