I really think people are jumping the gun here & being quite frankly hysterical, precip is pivoting & will affect the region over night, I expect quite a wide area to have a covering by morning.

Rain today says ppn over us now but nothing falling from the sky!

looks like the first band of showers has died out from looking at the radar because nothing arrived here! The 2nd band behind it seems to have a bit more about it so lets see if that makes it!

can see the PPN moving in from the north now. Hopefully falls as snow to top up what we already have!

Is it all rain on the coast or is it a wintry mix?
not sure about the coast but we are about 30-35 miles inland and we had thunder snow earlier this morning but everything since 8.30am has been sleet/rain/hail.

just looking at the rain today radar. Showers from the west seem to easily cross the Pennines and into Yorkshire, but when its the other way round they die out dramatically!

I think any precipitation falling during daylight hours away from elevated areas will mostly be hail/rain/sleet and any snow away from elevation will fall after dark. It's a tad disappointing as up until last night the NW looked to be in a prime
position for lowland snowfall today.
What do you think the cut off elevation for snow during daylight hours will be?

Currently up in baxenden near accrington and it must of snowed pretty heavy. Everything is covered with a good layer of snow

Bbc had me down for heavy snow tomorrow. It's now changed to sleet and rain!!

just had a nice snow shower. covered surfaces and cars after all the previous snow melted earlier on.
