  1. Snowing all day in Maidenhead. But if anything it has thawed more than its settled!
  2. Yes it has been heavy in Reading, big flakes and coming down reasonably hard here near Reading Station. However, it's wet snow and not settling. Not sure if it will either.
  3. Hi Jackone, any chance we can get Livigno added to the list & forecast? Looks like I might be heading there next month. Cheers!
  4. Still just about snowing here in Maidenhead, but I think we're reaching the end now. Not quite as much as on Saturday, probably about an Inch here, but it has settled everywhere. Not a bad week really all in all. Shame I live within walking distance of work, otherwise I might have attempted a snow day tomorrow!
  5. This now appears to be a Tropical Depression, not a million miles away from being upgraded to a Tropical Storm. Worth keeping an eye on as it moves west-northwest.
  6. I wonder what the chances are (and I know this is further afield) of Irene swinging back over the north Atlantic and affecting our weather in the UK? I notice one of the model tracks has this scenario plotted. I'm off to Mexico on Sunday, and am interested in how Irene might also affect our flight path as well as the weather back in the UK.
  7. A decent Glastonbury this year for me. not my favourite, but not bad either. Top highlight for me was Coldplay on Saturday night, followed by Chase & Status in a downpour on Friday and Pulp on The Park stage on Saturday. Weather wise a very mixed one. This was my third Glastonbury and by far the muddiest one! Things started ok despite some rain on Wednesday morning, and by Friday morning a dryout was well underway. However; the rain did come and very much set in on Friday afternoon, and I would say mudbath conditions were established by early Saturday morning. I do remember being very very cold on Friday night (probably because I was so damp!). Ground conditions were very boggy and I found it very hard to get from A to B! However; the sun on Saturday and even more so yesterday dried things up consdierably by the end (although not completely) and this was a godsend for me as my Wellies split on Sunday morning! So, no Glastonbury until 2013 now, and therefore no worries about watching the weather for sometime to come!
  8. Big thanks again Jackone, as informative as ever! Now I'm packed, I'm just enjoying a cuppa before the fun and games begin tomorrow morning at 6:30am for me!
  9. I'm sitting here at work, itching for 5:30 and home time! Very excited now indeed. Again, thanks Jackone for this thread. Since I joined this forum in 09, this has been a great read, and this year the biggest rollercoaster yet! At the moment the sun is shining outside my office, so I remain optimistic even though I'm over 100 miles away from the festival site!
  10. Just out of curiosity, are the Glastonbury 2009 & 2010 threads still in existance? I tried searching but came up with nothing. I just wanted to have a quick scan through them and see how close to before the festival the forecast was predicted. Despite going to both these festivals and following the threads on here, I must confess to having completely forgotten about the forecasting run up to the festival. Unlike last year, I'm starting to feel pretty certain my wellies are going to get a run out, having spend 2 years unused in a plastic bag!
  11. Hooray! You know summer is coming when the Glastonbury thread begins! Only 48 days to go now! Surely it can't be as hot and dry as last year can it?
  12. Snowing here in Maidenhead moderately, wasn't expecting this at all. I wonder how much it will snow, looks like something unexpected might be cropping up on the radar. 0.7 outside at the moment. Mild!
  13. The smallest of snow here in Maidenhead, barely enough to make a footprint. It looks like heavy frost. I think I might still be in this club.
  14. Maidenhead in Berkshire is a negative on the snow, at the moment....maybe this will change in the next 24 hours though.
  15. Returned early this morning, and what can I say about the weather? I thought last year was good, but 2010 tops it all. Amazing. Thanks Jackone as always for this thread, always an informative and very useful read!
  16. Last year wasn't too bad at all. It rained Thursday night into Friday morning, but then was fine and almost hot until the early hours of Monday morning. However I had gone by then ;-)
  17. Thanks again for updating this thread and including Sauze d'Oulx on your updates. Always quite a sad moment at the end of a season, but here's to 2010/2011 and the creation of a new thread! (and of course lots of snow!)
  18. Maybe Positive Weather Solutions are looking for some media exposure, and it looks like they've got it. Not a very clever idea if they turn out to be wrong. Hats off to them if they're correct though.
  19. This chain of events just made me laugh out loud at work!
  20. I went Skiing last April in Val Thorens, France. It's one of the highest resorts in Europe and therefore has the best likelihood of snow later in the season. However avoid the Easter holidays as it's very busy. The snow was ok last year but by the end of the week it was starting to get quite slushy due to higher temperatures. Failing that head to a resort with a glacier. e.g Kaprun in Austria. Sometimes it's a little journey to the glaciers in these resorts, but usually the snow is much better. Hope that helps a little!
  21. And still the snow keeps falling here in Oxfordshire! I might actually think about going home soon, but surely it can't get that bad......can it!? The Grass is totally covered here now. Maybe touching 4cm now.
  22. Still heavy snow here where I work (Harwell, Oxfordshire). I guess because we're higher up it's still snow, I have heard where I live (Burnham, Bucks) it's raining. Not too worried about being snowed in as it looks very wet and I'm sure will melt quickly later. However I'm sure we've had about 2 or 3cms on the grass now, and it's even starting to settle on the pavement. I must admit I really don't like these brief snow events, it gets your hopes up then goes!
  23. Well back from Sauze d'Oulx now and I must say the snow was excellent. They had a 50cm dumping before I left and this made conditions perfect. There were a few flurries whilst I was there but the weather was mostly sunny except for one cloudy day. I was disappointed not to see some heavy snow whilst I was there, however I can't complain about what was an excellent holiday. I will try and attach some pictures of the village and slopes before the end of today.
  24. Well I'm off to Sauze d'Oulx Sunday morning, flight is at 06:40. However it is from Gatwick so I'm not holding out much hope on being on time, and dare I say it with the weather heading there it could be cancelled?! I also note that our destination airport in Turin is experiencing snow as well. I really hope we get out there though, snow at the weekend then a dry week would lead to perfect conditions. I must also say I'm a tad gutted to be leaving the UK during this awesome spell of cold weather!
  25. Very heavy in Burnham again now, and starting to stick quite a bit! Wow, was not expecting this at all 30 mins ago. Great stuff.
