Note how mild New Year's Day 1917 was amidst a very cold period, it wasn't until 29th April 1917, that value was surpassed.

Going off the charts at the moment, New Year's Day 2022 maybe on this list.

Interesting how many are in the early to mid 19th century, which I always presume to be cold, snowy and generally Dickensian.

 I remember Atlantic 252 Depends on the situation with the low. New Year's Eve looks mild but NYD probably not so much, especially not in the north. Certainly no silly mild like 2022.
