The local differences are quite interesting in that 0/8 nights here hasve resulted in airfrost, most have resulted in ground frost which again is a little unusual for here, obviously, being the coast.

I must admit this is an unusual run of frosts for lateish Spring.

14 of the past 15 nights have had at least a ground frost.

The past 10 nights have all had at least a ground frost (8 air frosts).

7 of the past 8 nights have had an air frost.

Meam maxima 15th-24th: 15.0c (today is already on 19c)

Mean minima 15th-24th: -1.4c

Mean diurnal range 15th-24th: 16.4c!

No especially low minima though- lowest a mere -2.8c.

I would say a typical april would be 1990 for more frosts sharper and 6 sleet/snow shower days.

Rates higher to this month for frosts and snow, even though there was snow/sleet at the start of this month 2 days, better than most of the 00`s at least, that incl`s the 2nd half of march aswell.

We've had 13.8mm so far this month, around 33% of average. Interestingly theres been a strange pattern in recent years of dry Marchs, very dry Aprils and wet Mays.

2007: MAR 30.6mm (67%), APR 1.5mm (4%), MAY 53.7mm (123%)

2009: MAR 28.5mm (63%), APR 19.8mm (47%), MAY 55.7mm (128%)

2010: MAR 39.7mm,(86%) APR 13.8mm (33%) to the 24th.

Not that this has any bearing on the summer. July has been pretty much shocking all decade for rainfall here!

2001: 143%

2002: 190%

2003: 120%

2004: 220%

2005: 177%

2006: 44%

2007: 332%

2008: 237%

2009: 344%

Average rainfall for the 9 years, 201% of average!
