Hi

It’s a question more for a problem on my web site than here so I hope admin may allow this to stay long enough for me to be offered some help?

It may also, if I do tutorial work on here, be a help for me on Net Wx.

My problem after a long time with pc problems is video related. My previous trouble was eventually blamed on Studio 9 which I had used for 5 maybe 7 years. Incompatibility with various parts of Microsoft and its upgrades in part 3.

Since stopping using it my pc has been pretty well behaved on about 99% of the time. I have been using Windows Moviemaker to create a voice over on my twice weekly web forecasts on to my web site. Until this morning that is. It did not, I have no idea why, make the video in wmv. Format, a couple I tried ended up as wma. Which after a fair amount of time Google decided it did not like. (I use Google to transfer the video into my web site). Three other attempts and it copied in a format I cannot remember properly but something like .MSWMM in it

My question for the knowledgeable on here is twofold.

1 why has it not produced the video file as a wmv? File.

2 How or what do I have to do to get it do revert back to that?

Many thanks if anyone can help and also admin if this is allowed to stay for a while.

jh

Hi John.

The MSWMM files are the project files from Windows Movie Maker and not the completed video file. You need to open the saved MSWMM file and then when complete, go to section 3, 'Finish a Movie' and then save it to your hard drive or direct to the web in the format of your choice from the drop down box - they give you lots of frame rates, file sizes and formats to choose from. You are almost there, just need to convert it to a video file!

can't remember doing that last time but I'll go and look as I'm sure you are correct.

meteorology=yes; pc's=no!!

hi again

I suspect this bit is the problem, bottom lhs of the picc, it gives the file as wma

before it showed wmv

I have no idea why its changed or how to change it back

Just download a converter John. I found a very handy one for putting videos onto my iPod.

I will find you one and link it up here in a few mins. :whistling:

Try this.

http://www.any-video...for_video_free/

Download that, select the format of you video, and convert it so a format such as .AVI.

thanks for the comments and the link but I would prefer to be able, and to know why it no longer works, to the original file format.

I'll try something simple like turning the pc off and doing a restart, maybe to the last time the video format worked, see if that helps.

excuse the simple ideas, pc's are not my most easy partner as some of you know!

Does Clicking "see more choice" not allow you to change the file type?
