UK Outlook for Monday 5 Oct 2015 to Monday 19 Oct 2015:

There is a continued signal for generally quite settled conditions for many parts of the UK into the second week of October. This brings largely fine and dry days, though an increasing risk of mist and fog in places overnight, which may be slow to clear during the mornings. There will still be the chance of occasional outbreaks of rain pushing in at times, most likely in northern and western parts. By mid October conditions may become more generally unsettled with many places likely to see some rain at times, heaviest and most frequent in the northwest, with the southeast seeing the best of any dry and bright weather. Temperatures are most likely to be close to average throughout the period, but with the possibility of some chilly nights.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 21 Oct 2015 to Friday 30 Oct 2015:

The high pressure close to southern UK will slowly be pushed away as more unsettled weather arrives from the northwest. Rain and strong winds across Scotland at first on Wednesday will gradually ease as they transfer south across the UK to give a generally cloudy, breezy day with outbreaks of rain. Thereafter conditions look to continue on the generally changeable side across the UK, with outbreaks of rain and stronger winds, interspersed with drier, brighter periods. North and northwestern parts are likely to have the largest rainfall amounts, whilst southern and southeast England will see the best of any drier, brighter conditions. Temperatures are expected to be higher than of late, mostly rather warm, although some chilly nights are still possible in the quieter periods.

UK Outlook for Saturday 31 Oct 2015 to Saturday 14 Nov 2015:

The weather going into November looks a little uncertain at this stage with a couple of scenarios possible across the UK. The most probable trend, however, is for conditions to remain changeable and for parts of northwestern UK to see the bulk of any wet and windy weather, with a risk of gales at first. The southeast should have the best of the drier and more settled weather, although occasional showers or spells of rain are possible just about anywhere. There is also a possibility that the majority of the UK will see a return to generally dry, bright and settled conditions through this period. Temperatures look likely to be around the seasonal average, with milder, or rather warm spells interspersed by colder spells.

UK Outlook for Thursday 22 Oct 2015 to Saturday 31 Oct 2015:

The weather looks to be changeable across the UK during this period. Showers or longer spells of rain and stronger winds, are expected to arrive from the west or northwest at times, with the bulk of the rainfall expected here, and generally drier conditions further south and east. Due to the increasing winds gales are possible in the far north and over hills further south. These unsettled periods, however, will be interspersed by drier, brighter, interludes, with these most likely for southern and eastern parts, although brief settled spells are possible elsewhere as well. Temperatures are expected to be milder than of late, although some chilly nights, with fog or frost in the morning, are still possible in the quieter periods.

UK Outlook for Sunday 1 Nov 2015 to Sunday 15 Nov 2015:

The weather for November looks most likely to remain changeable and parts of northwestern UK will to continue to see the bulk of the wet and windy weather, with a continued risk of gales. The southeast should have the best of the drier and more settled weather, although occasional showers or spells of rain are possible just about anywhere. Unsettled spells, however, are still likely to be interspersed with drier, brighter and less windy interludes, even in the far northwest although here they may be rather brief. Temperatures look likely to be around the seasonal average, with milder spells interspersed by chilly nights in the more settled periods.

Met office talking about snow over the northern hills for the first time this Autumn

UK Outlook for Saturday 24 Oct 2015 to Monday 2 Nov 2015:

This period looks changeable. Showers or longer spells of rain and stronger winds are expected to arrive from the west or northwest at times, with the bulk of the rainfall expected here, and generally drier conditions further south and east. Winds will become stronger with gales likely in the north and west, possibly also in the south at times too. These unsettled periods, however, will be interspersed by drier, brighter, periods, with these most likely for southern and eastern parts, although there is a chance that the end of October may see a more prolonged settled colder spell for all areas. Temperatures may be below average overall, but variable, with both milder and cooler spells. In cooler spells frost is likely, as is snow for northern hills.

UK Outlook for Monday 2 Nov 2015 to Wednesday 11 Nov 2015:

The far northwest of the UK is likely to be unsettled and windy through the period with rain at times and a risk of gales. Otherwise much of the country will see a relatively quiet and settled spell of weather with variable amounts of cloud and some sunshine. Mist and fog patches are likely to form during the overnight periods and some of these may be slow to clear leading to quite murky conditions in places. On the whole most areas will remain dry, but some light rain may spread in from the northwest at times, and there is also a chance of showery rain moving in from the south. Temperatures are likely to stay mild for the time of year, but there is still a risk of overnight frosts.

UK Outlook for Thursday 12 Nov 2015 to Saturday 21 Nov 2015:

The generally unsettled theme is expected to continue across the United Kingdom, as further Atlantic frontal systems move across us. On the whole, the strongest winds and heaviest rain are most likely across more northern and western areas, where gales are likely at times, though periods of windy weather and rain are likely at times further south and east. Temperatures look to start off still relatively mild, though a gradual drop-off is expected, with temperatures probably averaging out close to the seasonal norm. Some brief colder interludes are possible bringing the risk of wintry showers to the higher ground of Scotland and perhaps the Pennines, whilst further south some drier conditions may develop with a risk of overnight fog and frost.

UK Outlook for Sunday 22 Nov 2015 to Sunday 6 Dec 2015:

This period is expected to be characterised by a general north-south split in the weather. The Atlantic is likely to continue to dominate our weather, with frontal zones running across the UK, interspersed by clearer, showery interludes, and perhaps some drier spells, particularly in the south. The north is most likely to see the heaviest rain and strongest winds but the south may see these at times as well. Temperatures are expected to average out around normal for the time of year, with milder wetter spells interspersed with colder drier periods.

UK Outlook for Thursday 19 Nov 2015 to Saturday 28 Nov 2015:

Remaining unsettled and windy at first, with further bands of rain crossing the UK from the west or southwest. The heaviest of this rainfall is expected in the west, where there could be some localised flooding. Heading into next weekend we could see more in the way of cold air sinking southwards with a mix of sunshine and blustery showers. These showers likely to fall as snow over high ground in the north, with a risk over time of turning wintry over hills further south. Overnight frosts will be increasingly likely, with perhaps some icy patches too. There is some uncertainty as to how long this cold spell will last but it is likely that wet, windy and milder conditions will spread back in by the end of November.

UK Outlook for Sunday 22 Nov 2015 to Tuesday 1 Dec 2015:

Sunday will be cold with a mixture of sunshine and showers, these heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunder, and also wintry in many places. There will be some icy patches at first on untreated surfaces, and probably again overnight into Monday. Then during the first part of next week milder conditions look set to return for a time with rain and possibly strong winds spreading across most parts. From later next week onwards the general weather pattern is likely to be for unsettled conditions to prevail across northern areas, with periods of rain and showers, whereas in the south it should be generally less unsettled. However even here some rain and showers are likely at times. Localised frosts are expected in any quieter spells.

UK Outlook for Monday 23 Nov 2015 to Wednesday 2 Dec 2015:

A cold start is expected on Monday with frost in many parts and wintry showers likely around eastern coasts and on hills, giving a risk of icy patches. During the course of Monday a band of rain and hill snow is expected to move southeastward across the UK, with milder conditions following. Thereafter, the general weather pattern is likely to be unsettled, with periods of rain and strong winds interspersed with clearer, colder spells and scattered showers. Showers may give snow on mountains, with an overnight frost in quieter spells where skies clear. Northern and northwestern areas are likely to see the wettest weather with gales possible at times, with the south and southeast seeing much more in the way of dry weather.

UK Outlook for Monday 7 Dec 2015 to Monday 21 Dec 2015:

A generally unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist through the middle of December with showers or longer periods of rain affecting many parts. The wettest and windiest weather is likely to occur across northern and northwestern areas. As is usual for this time of year there will be some sleet or snow at times in the north, particularly over high ground. Southern and southeastern parts should be see more prolonged dry spells, however, some rain or showers are still likely at times. It will be windy at times with gales or severe gales possible, especially around coasts and hills in the north and west. The temperature should generally be near or slightly above normal, although still with some colder interludes, and frosts are likely on clearer nights.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 1 Dec 2015 to Thursday 10 Dec 2015:

Tuesday will see the start of a succession of Atlantic weather systems spreading across the UK from the west. Northern areas are likely to bear the brunt of these, with the strongest winds, these occasionally gale force and heavy rain as well as some sleet or hill snow. Between the systems, most areas will have some drier and brighter periods, the best of these in the south. It is expected to turn more settled for a time as we move into the second week of December, with overnight frosts possible, although some unsettled spells will still be likely in the north at times. Temperatures will generally be around normal, although feel colder during any settled periods.

UK Outlook for Friday 18 Dec 2015 to Friday 1 Jan 2016:

The latest indications are that unsettled, wet and windy weather will continue at first across mid December although some transient settled periods will give some drier interludes at times. Showers or longer spells of rain will affect most parts at times as Atlantic weather systems move across from the west, giving perhaps wetter than average conditions in the west. Later in the month there may be more in the way of drier and perhaps colder weather, although there still remains some uncertainty. A large variation in temperatures, mild conditions at times associated with frontal systems with colder interludes between.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 9 Dec 2015 to Friday 18 Dec 2015:

After a largely settled day on Wednesday, with local frost overnight, changeable conditions are expected to develop, as areas of low pressure move in from the Atlantic. These will bring showers or longer spells of rain, locally heavy across most areas. Across northern parts there will also be some sleet or snow at times mainly across high ground. Strong winds are also likely, with a risk of severe gales in particularly exposed northern areas. Between these weather systems some drier, brighter periods with lighter winds will develop as well, the best of these in the south. After a chilly start, temperatures will vary from day to day with milder conditions generally accompanying the wet and windy weather. Overnight frosts are likely in the settled and clear weather.

Colder and brighter on Friday with a mixture of sunshine and showers, these heaviest and most frequent in the northwest where they will be blustery and wintry on high ground. It may then become dry for a time away from the northwest before milder, wetter and windier weather returns to the southwest through Saturday, this spreading northeastwards across all areas by the end of the weekend. Thereafter it is likely to remain unsettled for all areas with showers or longer spells of rain, particularly in western areas, while eastern areas should enjoy occasional drier periods. UK Outlook for Tuesday 22 Dec 2015 to Tuesday 5 Jan 2016:

As we move into the final third of December there are some signs that the very unsettled conditions of late may ease somewhat, with more in the way of drier and colder weather developing. There is however significant uncertainty in the forecast and a changeable theme is still most probable. This would indicate some rain in places, with a risk of snow at times, especially on hills in the north. After the very mild start to December, temperatures are likely to be lower, at least for a time, with overnight frosts likely in places. Current signs are that conditions will probably become more generally unsettled by the new year with Atlantic weather systems returning, bringing outbreaks of rain and strong winds to many areas and temperatures near to above average.

UK Outlook for Thursday 24 Dec 2015 to Thursday 7 Jan 2016:

Through the Christmas period and into the start of January it seems more likely than not that the unsettled weather pattern we have experienced through November and early December will continue. This would suggest that all parts of the UK will see rain and strong or gale force winds at times, with the north and west of the country experiencing the heaviest and most frequent rainfall as well as the strongest winds. Further south and east some drier and more settled spells will intersperse the wet and windy periods. Overall temperatures are likely to be mild for the time of year, although there will still be brief colder spells leading to a risk of frost, and snow over northern hills.
