Taking another shot at the Wyoming Risk today, I have no doubt the SE Nebraska and NE Kansas risk will light up with big Supercells but if we can get some organised Supercells in Eastern Wyoming we could be in business with large hail and the possibility of a brief Tornado or Landspout, temps over here struggling to hit the High 60's with 50f Dewpoints and around 1,000jkg of Cape whereas further east 3,000jkg of Cape. Could not stomach the 400 mile drive to get into position and that's even before chasing. Dropping South tomorrow for a hopeful risk in SE Colorado.

Here's an interesting discussion of heat bursts that occurred earlier on Thursday in the plains states.

    http://www.americanwx.com/bb/index.php/topic/19929-rare-heat-burst-hits-wichitaks/

(if you're not a member of this forum, you may not see all graphics posted)

Basically, a heat burst is usually nocturnal and a blast of heat from within a decaying thunderstorm. These sometimes raise temperatures from the 70s or low 80s F to 95-105 F briefly.

Some day time shots. I would have stayed out till they got closer but, thankfully there were two cars full of common sense! rolleyes.gif

General lightning shots. Taken at a distance so a bit small, but quite atmospheric. Bloody cold in the wind.

    Great shots, thanks for sharing.

I love the colour of dusk lightning.

Did you use a lightning trigger?

Thanks for the kind words. No lightning trigger in use. Ratio of 200 shots to four results combination of ISO, aperture and low speed consecutive shots. I will be looking into a trigger for next time.

Mind you looking through the photos and finding the results like is fun.
