Slowpoke, with the wind moving from the SSW/SW you are attracting a slight sea breeze, which peaks just after midday/1pm: this causes the temperature to slowly rise after and give later maximums, especially in Summer and Autumn. I expect you will get some higher maxima than expected due to this effect.

can't get much better than what we have had today, even for June/July it would be very good, for the last week in September a not oft experienced treat.

still 23C and the sun starting to set, dewpoint 13C so really really pleasant outside.

Shawbury topped 25C and got 10.5 hours of sunshine today, after the autumn equinox, according to the MO- it felt like 26-27 here and there was no cloud obstruction of the sun from 0730 to 1845 BST. Walking home after 11pm it felt like one of those balmy June/July nights from years ago when it hardly dipped below 20C.

The best thing about such a late heatwave is not being woken up by 5am sunshine that becomes 9am-8pm cloud.
