A surface low is trying to form looking at the 850hpa vectors, but there's just not enough pressurential difference to call it so, thus the MetO have stuck to it being a trough as of now. However it is influential on whats going on with our streamer right now and given the vector speeds should be across northern parts in the next 2 hours (which by then temps will start to be dropping off regardless of cloud cover aswell.)

Been really dense now for 20mins like fog with hige flakes. Bt whats your dp and temp

His will be warmer than yours because of the track this snow band is taking, right over the mersey at its warmest / widest point...for us though, we are not affected by the estuary which is ok by me.

Starting to ease off now, just a few light snow flakes after a good 40 minutes of heavy snow.. Not seen snow fall like that since the 17th December last year..! it's given a good 1.5 to 2cm's of snow on the ground.

'eddie' feature forming along the eastern end of the trough as Northerly vectors start to override the trough, looks to just miss my location here but Buxton is in line for some moderate snowfall again for a time soon.

The snow has stopped now and it's starting to brighten up.. I'm looking forward to what tonight has to offer if we get any more. Possibly an inch of snow on the ground at the moment.

I'm keeping an eye on that feature myself, looks like we could well be in for a few more surprises before the days out.
