Saw a few Daffs here just coming into flower there on the roundabout on Yarm road at the retail park. Other than that there all closed still

Curiously the BBC are keen on light snow showers for here later today. Although we all know what the MO and BBC forecasts are like!

Well we still look on course to finally loose these really cold uppers during the Easter weekend

Well all in all not a bad run from GFS positive steps tonight in that we slowly start to loose the coldest uppers from later this week in the south west first

gfs-1-126.png?12

By Easter Saturday the coldest uppers start to relax further north

gfs-1-144.png?12

This process continues through Easter Sunday

gfs-1-168.png?12

Easter Monday see's the 0c uppers head further south again but its only parts of Scotland and maybe Northumberland which are left with the coldest uppers

gfs-1-192.png?12

Temperatures should be higher than of late someone may hit 10c but 6c to 8 or 9c looks likely along the south coast (5c to 7c widely across the country)

192-580.GIF?24-12

Into April and the coldest uppers have relaxed for most

gfs-1-240.png?12

So all in all not too bad the positive step is the coldest uppers finally look like relaxing starting later this week and continuing for most through the weekend temperatures would continue to be below average but given the stronger sunshine now it wouldn't feel too bad in any sunnier periods

Fridays snow event looks like been exclusive to the south our chance of snow this week comes from the North sea

Back in Newcastle now. Some incredible snow drifts visible from the A66 east of Keswick, with one cottage plastered up to the upstairs window, although it was melting well in the sunshine. No lying snow by the time we got to Penrith.

Yep ECM remains cold only positive is the cold should relax into April easing the cold feel slightly the hunt for proper warmth goes into April now

ECM wants to keep us in the freezer. smile.png

Why is that good? surely as we move into april we want warmth and buds on the trees and showers rather than sleet and slush

Well the latest runs are keeping us well and truly in the freezer past Easter with no sign of any milder uppers whatsoever at all.

I think Gav has become an object of mockery on the MO thread now!

How deep is it down your way now? smile.png

Just got back home now, on way back noticed how much more there was towards Keswick way. The scenery was unbelievable on the way home when the sun finally came out and lit up the white mountains. Stunning. Can't believe on the drive in we didn't even know the mountains were there as visibility was 0!

Back to reality now like!

Uninspiring would best describe that forecast.

I do feel a bit aggrieved to have missed the fun and games, and again we have an Easterly which is producing nothing convective wise either.

And the worst thing is that by the looks of it the far S will get what the mids had this weekend, so LITERALLY the only region in the UK to miss out on this historic event.. will be us. I'm afraid this will make what we got in 2010 look like a pretty sorry runner's up prize.

TWS - any hope that Friday's system will miraculously deliver here?

From the latest runs it would indeed be miraculous for that front to make it anywhere near here to be honest.

It could yet end up pasting northern France!

That's what I'm hoping for... I'm not sure I could take it if the far S did get in on the act leaving us in a minority of one. :(

I must admit, seeing news coverage of the snow further south has been hard to take!

But at the same time some of the scenes have been awesome to see.
