Leaving Fredericksburg shortly after a light lunch, we are in the target zone and expecting to catch some decent hail, along with the chance of an isolated cell or two as we head toward evening. We'll start streaming around 7-8pm UK time.

Latest SPC forecasts have shifted the 2% tornado risk zone more towards the Mexico border.

No doubt this is where the surface wind convergence zone will be greatest as seen by the 12Z GFS when combined with the maximum CAPE and highest dewpoints.

There is a low chance of tornadic activity today but is cannot be ruled out - especially if the winds back enough where the jet stream is strongest once the cap is punctured.

If I was chasing today then my choice of starting position would be Kerrville a little southwest of Fredericksville - but a local knowledge of the roads and terrain could prove invaluable here. (Paul when did you last chase this far south?)

Already we see a severe warned storm to the north of Sanderson.

Well, well back to Fredricksburg in the Texas Hill country again eh? Ended up there for a few days both in 2007 and 2009, challenging terrain to chase, but storms often produce the goods structure-wise down there, remember in 2009 there was gorrilla-size hail not far from where we chased which stripped the trees of all their leaves as we passed through in the aftermath. Could be some big hailers again today.

Nope haven't seen any action on it but then the group is deep in Texas and my experience has been the reception from there is spotty.

I saw some streaming yesterday but it was very on/off. The quality was great once it was on, though. :)

Ballinger storm showing some deviant motion and a wide low level circulation just now. 2.75" hail - ouch.

Really frustrating that they are in a black spot for streaming as that cell is showing rotation markers!

They seem to be moving towards more populated areas around Austin & Waco so maybe the signal will pick up enough to stream? Fingers crossed.

Awful coverage today, have now called the chase off and heading back to Fredericksburg for the night. An eventful day though, got munched by some hail, drove through stacks of hail on the road, saw some intense hail fog and plenty of flooding. Then attempted to take cover at a funeral parlour only to get one of the cars stuck in the mud! Had to get towed out and by that time the storms had either raced away or gone to rubbish. Got some good pics and video though :D

Being towed out of the mud    brings back fond memories being dragged out of the ditch by a farmer called Smith

I can still see the headline in the local rag 'Stormchasers dragged out of a ditch by the Smiths'

I am only glad that we had not made it futher up the dirt track because the family in the next farm are Mr Mrs Balls.

Could have been a different headline.
