The snow part mainly for ground 200m+ unfortunately Clair and then only 1-2cm. Ice the main hazard. Heavy precip moving across Wales at the moment but probably too warm now for anything but rain/hail from this, we shall see. Higher mid wales could see quite a bit in a short time from this shower. Milder air associated with the band of precip. Edited March 2, 2016 by bradythemole
SnowStorm(Jamie) Posted March 2, 2016 Location: Swansea - 60m ASL Weather Preferences: Thunderstorms, Snow Location: Swansea - 60m ASL Share Posted March 2, 2016 Plenty of hail showers overnight here in Swansea & very gusty. Some snow this morning to albeit short lived. Looking at the Netweather radar there is a band of heavy precipitation moving south and east. It is giving rain to parts of SW Wales but appears to be wintry on the northern flank. As it edges further east id expect to see some snow falling around the Heads Of the Valley road, Dowlais, Tredegar where colder air is present + elevation. The good work of the recent relatively dry weather undone in less than a day. Sigh!
keithlucky Posted March 2, 2016 Location: swansea craig cefn parc 160 m asl Location: swansea craig cefn parc 160 m asl Share Posted March 2, 2016 Another weather warning for Wales Friday into Saturday with snow above 200 meters ,this is borderline edge of the seat stuff A band of rain, sleet and hill snow is expected to cross Northern Ireland and southwest Scotland on Thursday afternoon, moving into northern England and north Wales during Thursday evening. Snow is not currently expected to be disruptive at low levels, but is expected to settle on high ground above 200 metres. Please be aware of the likelihood of difficult driving conditions, and that some moderate-level disruption is possible. There remains some uncertainty about the northern extent of the precipitation. The precipitation type is also finely balanced, with its intensity having a bearing on whether it falls as rain or snow to low levels. This warning will therefore be kept under review and be updated as necessary.

Hope we're wrong, but temperatures this evening looks too mild, we might get the odd sleety mix tomorrow morning as the rain moves away and temperatures drop. Currently 7C at Bute Park. And andymusic - I'd never trust those charts, they're never right. I hope I get proven wrong though! Edited March 3, 2016 by Liam Ellis
Ian Price Posted March 3, 2016 Location: Nr. Caernarfon, NW Wales. Location: Nr. Caernarfon, NW Wales. Share Posted March 3, 2016 (edited) Looking at the GFS charts.... The only hope (of sleet probably!!) here (NW Wales) at sea level would be the back end of the cold front tonight where dew points are below zero and cold uppers. But by then the precipitation will probably fizzle out! when the colder pool of air digs in overnight, it should be dry. Then when the occluded front follows tomorrow morning, it will be too mild (from the north) for any snow on lower ground...
