Freezing level locally at 200M but rising to 300M after 15.00.

I notice that the chance of precip rises to 50%, highest all day.

Expect snow to rapidly accumulate with deep drifts also possible during windy conditions. Progress will be time consuming and physically strenuous, which will significantly affect the distance one is able to travel on foot. Paths will become hidden and difficult to follow, while very poor visibility during snowfall will make route-finding challenging. A heightened avalanche risk is likely and avalanche reports should be consulted where available.

:cold:

Different world those peaks.

radars died a death again.

Temps low enough for snow but showers have no intensity so dont think there will be lying snow here unless radar picks up.

There's the potential for the showers to intensify later in the afternoon into the evening for some. Hills may get a dusting but not expecting anything of real worth. Saturday/Sunday again could off some snow for some especially higher ground as a potential weather system moves in from the NW.

Next week however is looking better still  with these Models upgrading favouring a more intense cold spell that we haven't seen since 2012/13.  Watch this space going into next week.

Quite a few decent hail showers today whilst out at work.  Some of the hail the largest I've seen for some time.  Left a slushy covering but still not had any fluffy, dry powdery falls off snow so far this winter.  Maybe next week? I know the South Eastern folk are getting excited over in the model thread

Gfs 12Z now looking superb from Sat onwards. Snow Sat morning in off-shore winds.

Tuesday/Wednesday NNW flow with sub 515 thicknesses and -10 850s.

Is this our time?
