What the hell is fueling this convection inland? They should be around here.  Jealous.

It's simply the temperature differential. Over this area the temperature and dewpoint diffential is larger than inland. It's going exactly how I expected.

That doesn’t make any sense though but until I get a better exclamation then fine.

I'm loving the latest ICON showing snow cover over my area in Chorley Wednesday into Thursday on ventusky.

Did you not get a direct hit from the showers just passing through? They have been hitting here ok so not sure what SP is on about.

Well think about it.. the dewpoints are -1 to -2C around the coast and currently temperatures are currently modified by the Irish sea where the showers could be developing. There the humidity is lower.. whereas inland the temperatures are lower and thus closer to the dewpoint (higher humidity where it matters) thus building snow showers.

All we really need is the colder lower level air to come further into the Irish sea area along with higher dewpoints and we will see heavier showers.

It appears in general the leaving of Ireland is drying up the showers somewhat... That said I think it will change later tonight for a time

Just looked out the window, something swirling around in the sky, not snow nor hail but something white. It's left a bit of a covering.

Bird poo?
