Quick check and looking like good weather ahead, not much above 20c for well into if not mid June coupled with coolish nights in my area, love it. Fingers crossed it stays like this for the next 3 months.....unlikely i know

We've never actually recorded 30C in October. It's just about at the very limit of what's possible, and would certainly have to occur within the first few days.

I was aware of that, but thanks anyway.

Where are you? :search:it’s not been any of those things really so... *headscratch*. Definitely not damp very dry apart from rainfall from thunderstorms biblical amounts of rain last night.

Today parts of east mids from a fairly stationary cell had unofficially observed 80-90mm much fell in a hour just south of Northampton, might be a record amount of rain or at least local record that in time.

Spring starting and ending noteworthy.

The 1st-21st was unbelievable for sunshine here with over 180 hours. The 22nd-31st looks to come out poor with probably around 30 hours which overall is still a really good month and dry too. Just could have reached the elite months if we wouldn’t have pulled in proper easterlies

Potentially record-breaking May tops up an average spring

Quote

Increased sunshine during May has helped to make it a provisional record-breaking May for daily maximum temperature and sunshine across the UK.

The provisional average daily maximum temperature was 17 °C during May making it the warmest May in the UK in a series of records stretching back to 1910. The previous warmest May was in 1992 when the average daytime maximum 16.9 °C. Derbyshire, Aberdeenshire, Banffshire and the Isle of Wight all recorded daytime maximum temperatures 3 °C or more above their long-term average temperatures for the month.

With 245.3 hours of sunshine, May 2018 is also provisionally the sunniest May in the record stretching back to 1929. The previous sunniest May since 1910 was in 1989 when 241.7 hours of sunshine were recorded. This represented 132% of the long-term average from 1981-2010. The historical county of Westmorland, and Derbyshire both recorded 150% or more of their average May sunshine hours. Only Orkney with 193 hours of sunshine was below the long-term average (97%).

An average spring?

How can this spring be called average?

Wettest spring for England and Wales since probably 2000 for the 1766 series, both April and May were well above average temperature wise, May was very sunny, coldest spring day ever recorded in terms of absolute measurement, warmest April day for 69 years.
