What we thinking?

Really depends where you measure it as with it being a dry powdery base it is not sticking so needs to be measured on the ground really or large surface as it's almost bouncing off my handrail near to the door where it normally piles up.

The winds really picking up now so I would expect some drifting by the morning as the centre of the low passes through. Fingers crossed we have a good ole dumping for the rest of the night

I'd say we have about 3cm on the ground. It's stuck to the lamp post and fences all the way up and that's something I've not seen in a while maybe since 2013?

Tiny flakes in Stockton but quite intense maybe this signifies it is getting colder.

Yes we're pretty much now reliant on convective snow pepping up, rather than the wetter/warmer frontal snow, so I would expect it to turn powdery again through the night but a good base to start with.

Heavy fine snow in Stockton. More than I was expecting. Sky still looks full plenty more on the way I think.

Whole system much further  north than forecast which is good for me as I have an unexpected 3cms of dry snow now lying.

Heavy snow in Stockton should make for an interesting ride home to darlo. Must be about 4 inches on the ground now. Must say good start to the beast.

The temperature must have got up above 0 after the main snow hit here.  There seems less depth now then at 2am, despite more snow falling. There is just under 3" of wet snow.  Should have been 4.

The whole thing is a damp squib.

Should be colder air coming in now.  Looking at the showers in the sea, they are moving faster and from more of an easterly direction.

4” here at crook on top of car and local estate road.  Was 2-3” and some wet tracks on the road between hunwick and brancepeth but into Durham and they seem wet.  Bit slushy too.

if this is the warm up, then rest of week wil k h fun for those commuting.

About 2/3 inches on grass and over surfaces much less on concrete though think there has been a slight thaw. That should stop now the really cold air digs in
