Anyone see lightning just then? Sky lit up purple to my west.

Weird. 15 odd minutes ago the missus (currently thoroughly fed up with me and anything weather related) said she saw a strange light out of the patio window which caught her eye.

So have mine. A new layer of ice on top of the double glazing.

Evidence of freezing rain here on SW coast of the Island also.  Althouogh currently mixed in with Grauple, plants have clear, frozen droplets on upper leaf surfaces.

Put vaseline around your door to stop it sticking shut! Window too, if you want to open it at any stage during this freeze.

How far in land is the freezing rain likely to get? As far as here or more confined to coasts?

Lightning detectors often pick up mainly positive CGs. Cloud to cloud lighting sometimes gets missed.

Had lightning strike earlier and one rumble thunder !!

Crazy guys with all your ice hitting plants windows

can anyone try film it ?

Anyone know how to reduce the size of videos? I've got one to post but won't let me. Cheers.

Upload it to Google Drive or a video sharing platform, and then paste the link. It will embed the video to the forum. I don't click 'download' links to videos here, it's not safe to be fair.

Just seen reports of the freezing rain. Stay indoors and stay safe, you might get away with ignoring warnings for snow, being out in a ice storm is the last thing you ever want to do.

It's difficult to take photo's of it at night. I can assure you, you don't want this! Everything is getting plastered in it - horrible stuff!

we are still meant to get a lot more snow here! about 2 inches in ground and 8 inch drifts! If the ice storm got this far north, would it melt all the snow?
