New radar snow colour is too similar to freezing rain

Snow used to be red and freezing rain purple, now snow is purple/pink

This pic contains a mix of snow, rain and freezing rain - with the old colours these would've stood out against each other immediately, now they blend into each other.
One could easily be mistaken for the other.

We may well make the freezing rain a bit darker, but ultimately as it stood, the hail was extremely close to the snow colour and they were virtually impossible to tell apart without zooming. Currently, to my eye at least, there is a reasonable difference between snow and freezing rain.

That's interesting - the red for the snow was on the lighter side anyway a lot of the time - wouldn't it work better to make the snow more deep red and the hail more yellow?

More yellow makes it hard to see hail on the lighter backgrounds. We iterated through loads of options, and changing the snow was the best of them. I think darkening the freezing rain will have the desired effect.
