WED: After the Quake!

ECML-Route-Weather Watch

Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Wednesday 27th February 2008:

After the Quake!

Melton Mowbray 06:30hrs 5.8'C

Like most of the country I woke up at 00:56 to the tremor, or as the media are calling it, "The Earthquake"!!!

In Melton Mowbray it lasted between 10 and 20 seconds and was strong enough to shake the bed and make the wardrobe doors/blinds at the window rattle. Apart from making all the dogs in the estate to start barking everything else in Melton seems to have survived!

The weather in Melton this morning was dry with patchy cloud. There was certainly no sign of a frost despite it being on the cards yesterday. During the commute to York the sky cleared fully to leave a glorious bright start to the day.

Temperature at 06:30 was 5.8'C, lowest recorded overnight temperature 4.7'C.

Tomorrow; A widespread frost is forecast for tonight.
