Scuba steve The cars coming down are covered in snow. I just took my wife up to the gym at my daughters work and can confirm, above 200m is white with the snow blowing about in the wind.

Well, I went tae the garage (which doubles as a gym and ski service centre), stuck some tunes on, started servicing a pair of skis, and when I emerged after, there was new dusting ae snaw.

Omen or jinx?

EDIT. I'll take any snaw, but the main thing would be at least the ski centres get some. They got torched recently. Even the Alps below 1500 m is looking bad. Thankfully the forecast is better going forward.

Scuba steve can't imagine you'll have too many problems tomorrow to be honest. No huge amounts and the front is pretty patchy. Ice and accidents more likely on the A71 so I would go M74 to M77 unless you're likely to hit Glasgow at rush hour.

On the bus home and bits of snow starting to stick here and there on hard surfaces from about 110m asl. Nothing to get excited about mind 🤣

Off the bus at home now and it's light snow with a wee dusting building on some surfaces.

Fascinating to watch the high cloud to the south encroaching with the snow showers to the north move the opposite way coming  in on  what became an east wind leading to   small snow showers coming in from the east overland with one at teatime  leaving a dusting.  From what I can  see there must be a bit of a battle going on between the cold air to the north and the milder air to the south.   Currently moderate east wind clear and -1c with a top temperature of 1c this afternoon.

Dry with me but just a few miles away at my daughters the ground is white. From her description of what was falling I think graupel but not sure.

Still snowing here but very light and not amounting to much really except a light dusting on untreated hard surfaces, the car etc.

Snow equivalent of light drizzle here. Snizzle?

Flakes blowing on a very stiff easterly wind.

That heavy shower that hit my daughters must have passed to my North. Quite heavy at Balbeggie a few miles north and on A93just north of Blaigowrie.

The thermometer is sat exactly at 0C but with a stiff easterly, it feels Baltic. Yesterday morning's snow is still sat defiantly on cold surfaces out of direct sun but I think will rapidly ablate in this wind.

Heavy shower just started here. Mix of snow flakes and graupely type ice particles. Lying right away. Making a right racket on the window.

Almost like a streamer set up aiming this way.

Temp dropped from 1.4C to -0.5C with the heavier precipitation.

Longest period of falling snow we've had here all winter and it's still not managed more than a dusting! Nice to see though ❄️

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
