  1. Very mild, grey, damp, no wind and very thick fog which is now lifting. Horrible!
  2. Ross B Was out a walk and got caught in it. Thought I saw distant lightning. A real squall with hail, rain, sleet and snow. Completely soaked!
  3. Snow equivalent of light drizzle here. Snizzle? Flakes blowing on a very stiff easterly wind.
  4. Dry at work in Dumbarton but I can see light snow falling at home on the cameras.
  5. Another wild night last night but certainly not as bad as Sunday. No further damage beyond the fence than went on Sunday, and didn’t spot much else locally out and about either. Not sure there is anything too exciting going forward.
  6. Some weird and wonderful diversions out there tonight. Tenerife to Edinburgh diverted to Cologne earlier. Wind still really gusting here and you can hear it roaring in the trees to the south of us. House also really creaking. Reports of lots of trees down locally.
  7. Wildest I remember for a few years. Just been out to secure the pizza oven which, despite the weight in it and the stand not even having 4 wheels, was on its way across the patio. Could barely get the outward opening patio doors which are facing directly into the wind open. One try at Glasgow, then south for one try of runway 21 at Prestwick before ending up in Manchester after declaring an emergency (presumably fuel). Pilot of the night goes to Jet2 from Prague who I think has been the only one to get into Glasgow tonight.
  8. Really ramping up now. Wind whistling and howling round the back of the house. Moved the cars outwith roof tile falling distance.
  9. Pretty gusty here now. The direction of the wind is catching the back of the house. Looking like flights landing at Glasgow are starting to struggle.
  10. Congrats @Northern Strath Very wet but been calm all morning. Wind just starting to pick up now so this seems the beginning of it ramping up as we go through the afternoon. Trampoline weighed down so hopefully it will stay put! Still seems a lot of uncertainty with the possibility of a narrow band of stronger winds muted in the northern of the amber warning areas. What would the thinking be there, a sting jet? In terms of the idea of tornadoes, having been to Jersey three weeks after Storm Ciarán and seen first hand the destruction from the tornado there, certainly something to be avoided!
  11. A covering here overnight. Last shower was rain and that, together with the snow which melted a bit, has just ended up frozen into compacted ice on the cold ground.
  12. -8 again on the car leaving this morning and -1 now. Caught a little shower here earlier but everything else fizzled out long before it reached here. Looks like it has been an epic spell for those further north but nothing more than a dusting for me. Nice cold spell even if snow was lacking here. All eyes now on some pretty foul weather heading in for the weekend.
  13. -8 on the car leaving for work this morning although a much more tropical -2 when I arrived at work in Dumbarton. Just home and -3 on the car now. Clear skies and sun. Everything frozen solid. Radar looking very lively to the northwest and there will certainly be some further signifiant accumulations. Loving the snow pictures! Very jealous!
  14. Some great photos today and I’m not jealous at all From the forecast and modelling I thought I would do well here, but an epic fail. Not just on the lack of snow but the complete lack of precipitation as, other than a dusting this morning and some sleety pish at lunchtime, it’s been dry. Everything now frozen and a complete ice rink out there. Like @Ross B some nice patterns on the cars.
  15. Rain and occasional sleety pish here. Going to be an ice rink when this clears through later.
  16. Got friends in Jersey in the Channel Islands and they had a similar covering this morning. A rare event there. Cameras at home showing a frost this evening. Not likely to get anything off a northerly but looking forward to hopefully coming home to a cold spell with maybe the potential for frontal snow as it goes on.
  17. From memory the cold weather health alerts, which is separate from the weather warning system, isn’t something the Scottish Government subscribe to. That’s why we don’t get cold weather alerts covering Scotland.
  18. Away from the Scottish weather, it’s a week in the sun in Tenerife for me. Can see on the cameras at home that the frost has lingered in the shade all day. Hopefully be returning to something cold at the end of next week.
  19. A little covering here but the heaviest of the band quickly passed so nothing of note for me. Either need to be a little further north or have more elevation! Looking good for those through the central belt for a little while anyway.
  20. Horrid day and the rain has just never let up. Now as heavy as it’s been all day. Lots of local flooding. As others have said, surely the impacts today which have been quite severe warranted an amber warning? Rightly or wrongly, I generally take a yellow warning as something to be aware of, but not something I would immediately change my day to day plans because of. Although certainly wouldn’t go hill walking or anything like that!
  21. Hovering around freezing here and very icy out. Not long in and the roads are very icy with very minimal gritting. Tomorrow is looking like another grim day here. Looks like those further north with a bit of elevation could do pretty well in terms of snow.
  22. Great to see some Christmas flakes for those further north. Here, it’s wet, wet, wet and no sooner does it go off it starts again. Just feel like we have been stuck in an endless line of showers all day. Merry Christmas everyone
