  1. A lot of rain last night, roads are awash and watercourses locally have overflowed. 11c driving to work. Just can’t see that there will be snow later on today.
  2. A bit of a heavier burst now. Grass and cars are white, with the edges of the road outside the house also turning white. But it all seems a bit of a struggle.
  3. Not normally remotely noteworthy but this is the most snow I’ve had all winter!
  4. Nothing more than a dusting. But the ground is white and I’ve not had any more than this all winter!
  5. Not been on here for ages with the weather generally being a bit meh. Looking a bit colder as we head into March. Maybe the chance of some snow to round out what has been pretty much a snowless winter here. Came to the Aurora party late on Sunday night but caught a couple of pics on the phone later on. Visible by eye too. Clearest I’ve seen myself since about 20 years ago when I was living in Inverness.
  6. @Ross B @Huntforsnow Only briefly caught the very southern edge of that shower here, and it wasn’t snow. But everything coated in ice and there was a strange tinkling as the rain fell, so possibly a touch of freezing rain.
  7. Separate ice warning for ice after showers which also includes mention of a few cms of snow that has been extended north. Not much of anything falling here.
  8. Absolutely wild this evening. Horizontal sleet all night and blowing an absolute gale. Lots of flooding on the roads and many trees down across Ayrshire. Lots without power also. Ayrshire Police Division advising against travelling. A really dangerous evening and I don’t know how this didn’t warrant an amber warning.
  9. @Kirkcaldy Weather yes, looking quite wild for a time this evening yet a yellow warning was only chucked out at 10am. Trees are always more vulnerable too when the ground is utterly sodden as it is at the moment. A very wet night last night with plenty water on the roads this morning. Looking dry and cold for for here next week now with the potential for snow showers much reduced. Still be a nice change from incessant rain.
  10. Not really getting enough intensity but a covering on most untreated surfaces now. Happy new year everyone. FullSizeRender.MOV
  11. I’m certainly in the wrong place at the moment when I look at the radar.
  12. Been very wet here but now turning to wet snow also, but currently no chance of it lying.
  13. I see there is a severe flood warning for Whitesands with levels likely to exceed December 2015 and December 1982.
  14. Rain easing off now after a very wet night. Not particularly windy here but the rain was incessant for hour after hour. Lots of flooding locally on the roads and from small watercourses. The Inverclyde area looks like is caught it pretty bad.
  15. Put Pirelli Scorpion Zero all season tyres on the wife’s Volvo in the autumn and they seem very sure footed so far, although not had them in anything extreme yet. Best winter tyres I’ve found over the years were Firestone Winterhawks. Currently running a set of Kumho Wintercrafts on my Focus ST which are ok. Actually been on the car all year to be honest.
  16. With a slushy mix at home, I headed up to higher ground with a walk around Whitelee this afternoon where there was a good covering of crispy snow. Everything was frozen here at 5pm and following a shower of snow, then rain, then snow again, everything is coated ice and now covered in a dusting of snow.
  17. A rain/sleet/snow mix here giving a slushy mess on the ground. Either need more elevation or to be further east.
  18. A couple of wee showers earlier and everything is absolutely coated in ice.
  19. Photo not mine and taken from Facebook but a huge amount of snow in Tyndrum with many vehicles stranded on the A82 last night.
  20. Certainly some XC Weather madness for here! Don’t for one minute think it will happen but we can certainly dream. Very icy this morning, even on main roads. I’m convinced gritting has been scaled back. Not seen a gritter up our street since January 2021, although they are out filling grit bins today. First winter with an all season tyre and car seems very sure footed so far. Will see how it compares to the winter tyres on the other car when I get it in some proper snow.
  21. Great to see those with snow. Band went north of here and only a touch of a sleety mix on the very southern edge. Frozen solid to the ground but starting to thaw now.
