  1. It’s a fickle place for snow here. Mearns normally gets more than us even at the same elevation. We are two close to the Kilmarnock snowshield I think, A few weeks ago we were lucky that we ended up in the path of a prolonged line of showers.
  2. Makes sense in my head! What is falling is snow, but we just never ended up under a prolonged heavy band.
  3. Light snow falling here again as it pivots round. One of these frustrating days where we’d have got a good covering if the precipitation had been in the right place.
  4. A wet covering but the front has passed here now. It went about 50 or 60 miles too far north for me! Looking very snowy north of the Central Belt on the traffic cameras.
  5. Moderate snow here but we are on the very southern edge of the band. Looks like I’m just in the wrong place.
  6. Missing any showers today. Sunny with just a few clouds. Feeling cold in the brisk wind. Looks like it’s all going too far north for me here. Having said that, the Met’s forecast now has 8 hours of heavy snow for me with the earlier sleet symbols now gone. Don’t know what the automatic forecasts are based on.
  7. Been pretty gusty here in East Ayrshire but not exceptional for these parts. Huge amount of rain this morning and the odd tree down locally. More substantial damage not too far from here on the rail line from Kilwinning to Ardrossan and Largs
  8. Still doesn’t feel anything exceptional here but is gusting pretty strongly now and again. Saw this from Network Rail. Doubt there will be any trains to Largs and Ardrossan tomorrow!
  9. Noticeably gusty here now. Slightly unusual direction. Catching the side of the house rather than the rear which is more standard for these types of event.
  10. Seems to have downgraded a bit for tomorrow night? Still be blowy but I’d be surprised if we see close to 70 to 80 mph here. Famous last words!! The BBC automated forecast is going for it on Friday morning here. I’ll believe it if I see it!
  11. A thin covering of snow, now just slush and the showers rattling in are sleet and rain.
  12. Certainly getting white during the showers but then just melts when the snow stops. Some lightning and distant thunder too.
  13. After a few showers of rain, the last one was back to big flakes. Starting to lie on all surfaces just as the shower finished!
  14. Showers, whilst infrequent, are now big fluffy flakes. Not even the slightest hint of it lying though. Edit: latest shower was starting to lie on the grass and cars before it blew through.
  15. The showers here are heavy wet snow although not really lying, except slightly on the grass and cars.
  16. Yesterday saw a day of sun after 8 days of cloud, greyness and gloom. Today, it’s grey again and without a breath of wind.
  17. What I expected to be a bit of a slushfest turned into the best single days snowfall here since March 2018. 11cm in the garden and very little thawing during the day. Surprisingly the main roads through the village are still very slushy and icy. Frozen solid now. Sadly it will all be gone later. A few pics from a walk round the back of the village at lunch.
  18. School open but local roads chaos. Added a cm since my last post. Now up to 11cms.
  19. Winter wonderland here. Local roads reported as very difficult and waiting to hear if the school is closed. Edit: still going and on exactly 10cms
  20. Showers now switched to heavy snow. IMG_6831.MOV Possibly distant lightning also.
  21. A horrible day of cold rain with sleet mixed in. It was actually white with big fluffy flakes when I went to bed last night. Hopefully see some snow here when tonight’s showers rattle in, but only a one day event if I do.
  22. Merry Christmas folks. A dry, bright and cold day, felling pretty seasonal. And now a few snowflakes floating about under the lamppost. Enough to chalk up a white Christmas here IMG_6755.MOV
  23. Stunning winters day and not a cloud in the sky. Frost persisted in the shade and also pretty foggy overnight. First day back at home after 6 days in Crosshouse Hospital with Covid. Double vaccinated and only 42 so certainly didn’t expect to find myself with such a bad dose. Hoping for some crisp winter weather as I slowly recover.
