  1. I did find the snow going over the hill to work in Greenock. Lots of cars/vans stuck on the hill between Lochwinnoch and Kilmacolm. The winter tyres were working well this morning.
  2. Heavy rain all night and a nice big puddle on my lawn. Seems to be further north than forecast which resulted in my location being on the milder southern edge of the band. Few flakes blowing around now but a case of what could have been. Might see some snow over the high road to work.
  3. Rain at home at 133 metres, sleet/wet snow at work in Greenock at sea level, and this in between on the way there.
  4. I remember that event. Not much at home despite being higher than Kilmacolm but going over the hills to work in Greenock there was a huge amount of snow. I remember is snowed for a couple of days before it rained like you say. Got a number of pictures saved on the old laptop but this one was of the B788 between Greenock and Kilmacolm during that event. The roads were near impassable for a time.
  5. Sleet here. More and more large flakes appearing though.
  6. After being back to the grey and gloom yesterday, it was clear skies and frosty this morning with yesterday's dampness frozen hard on the car. Car showed -3.5c. Thick fog at work in the centre of Greenock.
  7. Good walk this afternoon to enjoy the snow before it disappears overnight. Forecast for here is for rain from the word go tonight. Temperature certainly dropping away though so I am not totally discounting a few flakes before the rain sets in.
  8. 7cm here in the end. Not a bad wee covering and an afternoon playing with the kid in the snow.
  9. Liking the look of this. Been watching it and it looks a direct hit for my location.
  10. Passing over here too. Pretty heavy mix of mix of snow, graupel and hail. Shower activity seems to be picking up a wee bit again for here.
  11. Normally when we get snow here there is nothing in Kilmarnock. The band seems to have developed a bit to the south of us. Bright and cold here now.
  12. Off work due to childcare issue so took the wife into work in Kilmarnock. Roads utter chaos. The Firestone Winterhawks didn't miss a beat however. I really rate them as a winter tyre. Current view but there seems to be a break in the showers for here after this one.
  13. Seem to be catching a more prolonged shower at the moment and starting to get a covering.
  14. Pretty blustery overnight with the wind whipping around the back of the house. Bin day today so they were everywhere this morning. Sat next a drafty northwest facing office window with the wind is whistling through. Few branches down but nothing of note. Currently blue sky but earlier showers did have some sleet in them and the temp in the car dropped from 5c to 3c in the heaviest shower on the way to work. Had a lorry from the same company as that on the FRB wedged down a narrow street in our village in November!
  15. We can do very well here from a north westerly set up so will be disappointed not to get anything. In the past, the distribution of the showers has meant that the difference between nothing and a good covering has been be just a few miles though. Hopefully the winter tyres will be put to the test somewhere on my run over the hill to work. Rain fair battering down at the moment.
  16. A slight dusting on the grass this morning but didn't last long. Showers seem to have passed now and the sun is out. Wind really blowing. It seems much more gusty now than at any point when we had the yellow warning over the last few days. Enough to bring a tree down up the road.
  17. Rain, possibly freezing rain overnight. Thick layer of ice on every surface. Far more than you would ever expect from a simple freeze after a shower of rain. Car door frozen shut. Starting to melt in the sun.
  18. Slight dusting of wet snow at home overnight. Frozen solid on the car this morning. The high roads over to work in Greenock were sheet black ice with snow lying on the highest parts. Car on its roof between Lochwinnoch and Kilmacolm and no sign of any gritters. Got a new set of winter tyres on the winter wheels yesterday so will get them on this weekend, and not before time.
  19. Also heard here with distant flash of lightning.
  20. Long time lurker so thought I would say hello. Mix of rain, sleet and snow here in Dunlop, East Ayrshire. Currently snowing moderately and now giving a covering. Pretty snowy coming home from work in Greenock earlier. High roads over to Lochwinnoch were completely white. Earliest snow I can remember for while. Not even got the winter tyres on yet!
