  1. A pretty awful day with hour after hour of rain. Almost felt like it never totally got light it was so grey and dark. No idea on the temperature but feeling very mild. House was roasting with the fire on tonight.
  2. An absolutely foul day and it was certainly not fun trying to put up the Christmas lights in the pouring rain.
  3. Light snow shower as I was going to bed last night. Must have then gone above freezing overnight before everything froze again Car was caked in ice this morning.
  4. A touch above freezing today but not much of a thaw. Away from the salt and well trodden ground, the snow cover remains intact. Grey, cloudy and pretty gloomy for much of the day. Felt really raw out and like a proper old school winters day. Great way to start the winter. Had virtually no snow here at all last winter, so hopefully we make up for that this year.
  5. Some crazy scenes down there and totally un-forecast. Band just seemed to stall. Drifted south now but more coming in from the west. There was a motorsport event in Grizedale Forest and loads of people have been and still are stuck in the forest and surrounding area since the event was abandoned. Here, we had a bit of a thaw during the afternoon with a good bit of cloud moving in. Just tipped back to freezing now according to the car. Most snow we’ve had here in two years so took the opportunity to enjoy it!
  6. A couple of cms above 200 metres was the forecast I saw. I’ve topped out at 10cms here with similar depths right down to the coast.
  7. It might be late but unexpected snowfalls are the best and had to take the opportunity for a few pictures around the village. 8cms so far but gone off a bit now.
  8. Car reading -4 leaving for work this morning and again -4 on my return a short time ago. In a little cold spot here it would seem as the car dropped 4 degrees in the last 5 miles before home. Sky completely clear with a very bright moon.
  9. Car said -6 this morning when I left for work. Said 0 when I came in earlier with a bit of cloud but certainly feels like it is dropping now the sky is clear. On a separate note, any recommendations for a home weather station that is decent enough but doesn’t cost the earth?
  10. Nice to see those who are getting some flakes. Sunday has been the only day in the last week when the car was not frozen in the morning. Certainly feeling very cold out, with everything frozen solid. Just filled the car washers up with a stronger mix to hopefully keep them from freezing. With a very busy but boring motorway and A road commute when I am in the office these days, I certainly need them. Not commuting over the hills anymore, so it’s also just a set of all seasons now rather than changing to a winter tyre.
  11. Slight frost again this morning on the car and roofs. More notable frost anywhere in a hollow. Pretty foggy at work in Dumbarton and only just lifted now. Increasingly looking like a pretty serious rain event for the north-east.
  12. Frost on the cars and grass this morning, first of the season. Still felt quite warm in the sun this afternoon without any wind though. The BBC weather for the week ahead was pretty non-committal about any rain towards the end of the week, only had a very brief mention of the early warning from the Met Office and just had a passing reference to some models indicating the possibility of heavy rain.
  13. Hear it rumbling away in the distance as it moves inland to the south of me.
  14. Frequent thunder rumbling away to the southwest of me. Edit: big flash and bang overhead.
  15. The thunder just passed off to the east but certainly caught the edge of the rain. Wish I’d kept filming the rain as it went from this to a complete stop, as if you had just turned the shower off in the bathroom. Sun back out. IMG_9448.mov
  16. Hot, humid but still blue sky and sunshine here. The everything is sitting to the south and east of me where the sky is looking very dark. edit: Very distant thunder to the south.
  17. Heavy rain now falling and a fresher feel all of a sudden. Really can’t remember the last time we had notable rain here. Ground is solid and grass is brown. Really glad to get the garden watered!
  18. Just in from work and the car is reading 27c, at 7pm in the evening in early June with no sun. Seems absolutely nuts. Dry, hot and sunny all day at work in Dumbarton. Currently a very active little cell to the west of me, centred over Kilbirnie. Rumbling away constantly.
  19. Not on the forums too much in summer! Yup, can confirm the last little storm just skirted to the west of me with some very decent lighting IMG_6473.MOV
  20. Caught a shower earlier which gave a dusting, but already melting in the March sun.
