  1. Hey all, been a while since this happened. Cant catch up on all posts as on mobile but am currently on a hill just west of Glasgow awaiting what looks like a belter. Hope it holds together, wish me luck folks! An of course, good luck to you all too x
  2. ATD seems to be having a bit of trouble tonight but Blitzortung showing strikes fairly well, oh to be down there you lucky ducks
  3. Loving the look of the Iceland lightning map for today. Nothing here but has been fun reading the forum and seeing the photos! Wesite for the below map is here if you havn't seen it before: http://brunnur.vedur.is/athuganir/eldingar/i_dag_na.html?
  4. Was just browsing vids of the storms on the continent yesterday and today, btw hail in germany from a supercell today: and just had a bright blue flash and shotgun thunder here! Teaser of a bolt out of the blue, hung out the window for 15 mins waiting for another and nothing. We've actually done pretty well out of the recent thundery spell though so Im happy
  5. Looks like Castle Donington and the Download festival taking a pretty direct hit from one of the stronger cores. Ill be there tomorrow, only get the soggy ground to deal with and none of the fun of the storm! Webcam shows its pretty grim there: http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/download-ralphcam
  6. For the storm starved, you can see flashes on this webcam atm http://www.vision-environnement.com/web/saint-jouin-bruneval-la-plage/
  7. So last year was by most peoples standards a fairly un-thundery year, this year is looking worse so far! We had 8 full convective discussion threads by this time last year, today we're on two Think I need to move...
  8. If by We you mean me then no! battery was flat on the camera on charge now. I hope you got some, i didnt have the best view from here but it was very apparent
  9. Proper rotating scud in the rear inflow of that cell just gone over reading that was unexpected, might have to take a trip outside if that other stuff holds together!
  10. I guess u have the radar with you, something showing over Northampton now which looks like it might head for S Lincolshire, god luck! Also kudos to all the people who said 1500 onwards was the time, right on cue!
  11. Surface based Cus building nicely now to my north-ish, toward Oxford way. First surface based stuff visibe from here today so I think theres still odds on for the 15z onward activity to happen. Dont get worried yet Supacell
  12. holy crap, storm in the channel, lots of sferics v v quickly, interesting day to come!
  13. Just been out to look at that storm as it passed by here, worst was out to the West between myself and Gottalovethisweather, as the sferic map shows thats pretty much where the sferic activity passed through. Looked extremely dark and there was a bit of a green tint on the approach, saw maybe 4 or 5 flashes, I think it stayed intracloud, and heard a few rumbles too. Brief squally heavy rain that started very suddenly, actually heard it coming and dived for the cover of the car but nothing much else happened. Tried heading up the M4 to maybe head up on the M40 and catch up again but its moving fast and the traffic post downpour is not! Was good fun tho
  14. Happy birthday to me two pretty decnt storms have passed by here today, one to the south then another to the north. Seen plenty of lightning for the first time in years!
  15. UKWW has a thread here with all the tornado footage ive seen so far: http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/92022-rfmi-tornado-swalby-nr-sleaford-lincs-thu-28th-june-12/
  16. Anvils look amazing from here in Reading, i knew before i looked at the radar theyd be too far to chase but I was surprised to see quite how far away
  17. Plenty of sferics right over cheltenham, Jane Louise you gotta be out of the NSC now!
  18. Posted on UKWW by Matt D: Posted 07 May 2012 - 15:48 A couple of fairly lively TS developing across the southern half of Gloucestershire now between Dursley in the west and Lechlade in the east. Radar signatures suggest the cells are well being well ventillated with streams of lighter precip blowing away rapidly NEwards from two intense hail cores where lightning is rather frequent at the moment. Cells are developing in an area of reasonably strong low level shear (surface winds still backed to the SE here). If anyone is in the area, keep an eye out for large hail, wall clouds, a funnel or even a weak tornado.
  19. Wavey asperatus type clouds here in Reading half an hour ago, photos not great but you get the idea

  21. Yeah except I did go to Portsdown, Doh! Got back in time to see plenty of flashes in the distance, the storm that formed a little later over Surrey zipped by with flashes to the north and south but nothing overhead. Pretty disappointing overall, shoulda stayed in Reading
  22. Yeah that looks like a nice spot, nearly 100 miles away for me though. Portsdown is 64 miles so ill go there if I go tonight. Im sure I can make it the 100 miles some day though. Quiet you! xD Dont rub it in
  23. Activity over mainland France has decreased to almost nothing now too, generally the trend accross the channel is not overly promising :/
