Just got home to Feltham in West London from the capital and am astonished by the difference, hardly any snow here and central London was buried. Amazing difference for such a short distance.

I’m calling it. West London this is as good as it is going to get. 0.2mm of snow. The lack of a proper Thames streamer has been our undoing, wind just veering in the wrong direction for us. All those that have done well congrats, I owe my 9 year old £20 as I promised her snow to cover her boots #whatamug

Delighted for all of those that have some of the white stuff , enjoy! Here in SW London (Feltham) we still have the snow barriers well and firmly up, maybe Friday......

What has surprised me during this period is the lack of wind. There was a lot of hype about the windchill factor and how it was going to feel like Siberia, just been fairly standard cold winter weather so far, the only unusual part being that it is so late in the season.

Right, I am going to be honest, I did not expect this thread to be so busy. Which is fantastic in my opinion. But perhaps the current plan for this thread needs to be reconsidered. As such I will soon be opening a thread for East Anglia and North London whilst this one will become the Kent, Home counties and south London thread.
What about west London ?

The last proper Thames streamer, back in 2010, my area ( near Heathrow) did exceptionally well, any reasons why that is not expected this time around.

Who mentioned everyone?

I don’t understand the obsession with Friday when we have a very good chance of deep snow cover over wide parts of our region over the coming days, let’s enjoy that and worry about Friday later in the week. It’s ruining this thread.
lets enjoy!

Beautiful day today here in West london, sun felt quite warm. Up to 7c at one point. Could be the last bit of warmth for a while!

Slight change of wording from the met today, looking 'mainly dry' at the beginning of the week. Hopefully they are just playing it safe.....
UK Outlook for Monday 26 Feb 2018 to Wednesday 7 Mar 2018:
It will be turning much colder next week. Monday and Tuesday will be mainly dry with sunny spells, but snow showers will develop across some eastern and southern areas, where fresh winds will make it feel bitterly cold. Through the rest of the week it will remain cold with an increased risk of ice, frost and snow showers. These will be heaviest and most frequent in central and eastern areas, and some spells of more prolonged snow are possible at times, particularly in the east and across southern England. The cold weather will continue into early March, with the northwest seeing the best of any brighter weather, and here it may be less cold at times, although brisk winds will continue to bring a marked wind chill.
