  1. Had a reasonably heavy snow shower at 7.30 this morning then light snow/snizzle ever since. Temps been below 0.4oc all day and currnetly -1oc.

Very patchy dusting here, none in the city center but drove upto ringinglow an hour ago and it was like a baron wilderness. The wind was blowing the snow around on the road though again, only a dusting.

  2. Thundery heavy rain just abaiting a little now. Lasted around 2 hours with numerous close lightning flashes and long, loud rumbles of thunder. currently 53mm of rain today, 19mm in last 2 hours.

Massive problems in Sheffield this morning due to 105mm in just 2 days falling and running down the many hills surrounding the city. Many manhole covers off this morning, leaves and branches down and roads looking like rivers.

  3. Does anybody else find it so annoying when watchin the bbc weather that they cut from the early morning weather map to showing the weather in london, belfast, glasgow and cardiff in a list. How am I supposed to know the weather in Sheffield or anywhere else for that matter by seeing what its like in those 4 cities. Its not detailed enough as they are only being precise for the next 12 hours.

  4. Dunno weather to class it as a storm but a line of torrential showers has been moving north west on a convayor belt just to our west. One has just clipped us giving 25 minutes of torrential rain and pudddles in the lawn. 3 miles to our east has had nothing. A rain storm without the bonus of thunder.

  5. I Wen't past owler bar at around dinner time it was 4.5c at the moorlands pub area it was only raining though but i would hazard a guess at the highest parts say the snake pass and kinder scout might have seen some wintryness :drinks:

There were at least 2 hail/sleet showers here in bents green mid afternoon. I was in the greenhouse as the ice pellets came down and there was a time where the rain drops were massive and contained ice too.

  6. Hasn't stopped raining here all day! Never heavy infact always quite light but not drizzle & absolutely continous.

Interesting thing for me has been the "feel" of the day. It felt like a dismal day in August not April. Definitely warm rain & aprt from that you would not have needed a coat outside. Strange days indeed!

Same here apart from the rain has been very light at times and never more than light. It has been so muggy with the sun trying to peep through the cloud but only evey appeared as a glow through the cloud. 1.3mm rain so far.

  7. WOW!!!

Still snowing here in Sheffield but only lightly now.

Here at only 117mts asl we have had our heaviest fall in probably more than 5 years.

We have had about 3'' but in the higher suburbs there has been a masssive 8'' and cars are abandoned in crookes, bents green, lodge moor.

The mountain rescue are digging cars out on the derbyshire border about 6 miles out of the city center and all buses in Sheffield have been cancelled and stopped running at 10pm.

All in all a very wintry evening!
