Hi John Mac,

mostly rain. Its does sleet for short periods.
4.1c here.... its dropping.
When will we seee snow in South Essex, Herts boarder? The lastest tv forecast was going for 3/4pm
-
Sorry. I've been away from the thread. Is it rain now for Sunday?
No one is sure yet.... But dew points are looking slightly high, therefore its edging towards rain/sleet for some parts of our area.
So at the current time, anywhere from London south its looking a wet day and evening of sleet.

The Meto have just revised the snow warnings to include all of Surrey, Sussex, and Kent to see Snowfall after midnight!
Do they not realise its raining in herts and Essex?
Agreed, I think its going to fall apart for us in this area. Maybe the guys north (Norfolk and Suffolk) will do well.
-
Rain rain and more rain! Not looking good here.
-
Jeez that front looks almost dead.
When is it due to liven up?
Agreed - not looking good, if you want snow.
Are we still thinking it will pick up?
-
Hi all could this Thames streamer reach our parts?
It's still pushing in to south Essex and just into south Hertfordshire. I don't think it will go any further north, because it loses energy (snow) very quickly.
It's snowing here! Very light and slight dusting on the cars down our road.

maybe the front is heading NW, and the ppn is rotating around the centre of the low, so will be different directions depending on location....again only a newbie so don't shoot if barking up the wrong tree
Thanks Big Freeze. I think your right the low is push the snow band.

It does seem more precipitation keeps popping up from the channel.
Edit: First time the French have never given up
like it... They are not throwing in the towel.

Hi All,
Is the snow band heading east? or west?
Its seems to be trying to pulling out of London and heading a bit east.
-
Still snowing here! Started at around 8:30am!
Radar showing the snowing push north east..... Maybe 3 to 4 hours max of snowing fall left in the hert/essex area.
Yesterday - I predicted 8cm's, I think I've made that. Good day, pleased!
Then the deep freeze. We will see an average of -3 in the Essex/ Herts area.

And Vice versa C-- your bias & self importance has shadowed what used to be a decent poster.-
just now you have a colour tag you feel the need to doubt & moderate any post that doesnt fit in with your agenda- infact Im sure this wont last long as you exercise the same poor excuse again.
I dont think I mentioned SE london ONCE in any post at any point---- its not sour grapes-
I think you will find Ive done a virtual tour of every single regional thread at some point wishing them the best with the snow.
The problem is youve become over protective of your precious stratosphere & now part of the NW team you go to any length to defend the NW winter forecast - even to the point of moderating other users posts to suit-
as a result it taints all your posts to the point as both you & 'some others' use the stratospheric anomaly & only that anomaly into whats going to happen & everything revolves around that.- well sadly it doesnt.
Is this is great cold spell NO.
Significant in your own words- NO
Is it standard cold spell No- just slightly colder in the means that the norm- the sad fact is we have got used to 'warmth' & mild for to long which has adjusted our expectation.
the Uks average snowfall DAYS are 33 per year- which could be also adjusted pro rata per winter as there are minimal days are outside the winter-
Its what i would call standard fair for an 'average' January month- & what we would expect ' generally in the 'mean'- It may have been a tad colder for a tad longer than most cold spells but its not exceptional - thats both from a cold point of view or snow point of view.
There are 'local' variations which have made it better than average & some local variations that make it worse- it depends what your viewpoint is.- but as per norm that is standard UK fair- not everyone hits the jackpot.
the best part of this cold spell has been the frontal snow which remained ALL snow for the UK- is it exceptional- no just exceptional V the 90's & 00's run of poor winters-
I havent the time to argue with you - so welcome to my ignore button- im sure I can locate it.
You both provide excellent views and reviews. Different thoughts and opinions is what the games all about.

Have a few thoughts myself and one for the ladies!
Snow is like a Mans Genitals
1. Its Measured in Inches
2. Its soft to the touch
3. It comes when you least expect it!
4. It never gets as deep as you would like it!
Excellent, my confidence is broken!

I am predicting it will keep going NE into Germany and miss us all completely.
Hi Shrimper,
I'm in agreement with other members its showing signs of mioving slightly further east. But its coming to the UK tomorrow and looks stronger with regards to snow fall. MAYBE we will be slightly surprised - 6cm's maybe 8cm on higher ground.
Also its moving quicker - 10am it should be in London.
-
hey troops just at the keston mart!
Steve, I always follow your posts every day.. What's your thoughts about snow hitting the south/ Herts/ Essex boarder tonight? I''ve noticed precipitation as vanished of the radar. Not sure why?
Also what's the like there?

The snow is so close - only 10miles away! come on push over a bit futher east.
Does any only know if this leak snow band tonight will push east. Or will we get the first snow from 7:30am tomorrow?

For North east and east Londoners - what's your current temps?
Hi,
Its 0c (zero), it has been slow falling back from 1.5c later this afternoon.
Are we now starting to fear rain at first then snow?
-
as a lot on here I'm very confused I'm obviously alot more west than east Anglia (herts) some are saying we'll get a good amount others saying it won't make it. also BBC show it not making us on video bit if I go on 5 forecast it says snow for 24 hours
Hi Atrow,
This is the normal run up to a possible big snow event. There is so much data out there predicting a range of outcomes - which will continue to swing through out today.
One thing is agreed - we will get snow in our regional area. How much? It will all be down to radar watching from tomorrow morning.
The current average prediction is to 2cm's to 5cm's to our region. But this will firmed up as tomorrow mornign starts.

Hi all, precipitation pushing up from the south and heading steadily into London. Could this fall as snow? Magic Bat

Okay, how it looks tonight. Rain pushing up from the south hitting (target area) the south east. Very heavy rain with the chance of flash floods emulating from storm sectors (thunderstorms - more likely after 11am tomorrow). As it pushes North, it will lower in magnitude, but many area's with see rain and some areas prolonged rain in some degree. Overall an interesting prospective.
