  1. Ive finally come to the conclusion that the Metoffice.gov web site is a total waste of time and too unreliable ...

They really dont forcast warnings until the severe weather is pretty much on your doorstep ... then all I need to do is look out the window for a forcast.

No wonder councils dont get grit or salt on the roads in time if they rely on the UK Metoffice, they should start using NetWeather.tv for there forcasts as you guys on the forums, all forcasting threads here get it spot on a good 5 - 7 days in advance clap.gif

  2. Well we had a lot of snow in Ramsgate overnight and into this morning ... I had to turn around and come back home to Ramsgate as I could'nt make it to work at Manston ( normal 5 min drive ) as there were jack knifed lorries, shunts and snow blowing off the feilds making viz worse than fog !!!

It took 55 minuites to get to the outskirts of Mantson villiage where I stayed in a long traffic jam for another 30 minuites before making the desicion to turn back.

In all I saw 8 car shunts and 2 stranded lorries with word of another 3 lorries jack knifed along the main airport road which is what apparently caused the traffic to stop dead and not move. Even the back way around the airport along the Canterbury road and the A299 thanet way were closed due to incidents so there was no alternative ...

I dont think the council have touch any roads with grit or salt as even A roads are snowed in with 6 inches or more in drifts wallbash.gif

Anyway, another heavy shower passing through now filling in my footprints and tyre tracks from earlier with the temp at +1.1c.

Loads of emergency vehicle sirens but cant see them as the traffic has jammed up the roads, I feel sorry for anyone who need the emergency services today as they will and are struggling to get around nea.gif .

  3. Its been snowing on and off heavily all day in Ramsgate, as the day went on the snow got more frequent.

This morning the temps were too high for any settling but come later this afternon, about 15:00 the snow started to stick.

We have about 1.5" on even surfaces and drifts of 4" in places against walls etc.

Still snowing, although no quite as heavy at the moment but I think theres the main event due early hours tonight with a more prolonged spell of snow, then toppped off nicely with more showers in the morning pardon.gif
