  1. Thanks to all who entered, obviously there are a lot of plane and car fans on here, and congratualtions to the winners who have been emailed their ticket details. It looks like its going to be changeable weather, but it will still be a great show. Ian
  2. If it's anything like last years trip, we can expect some stunning pics and videos. And we can also sit here smug in our mild temperatures while they roast in 40C+ out in the desert...
  3. Stuck for ideas on the Bank Holiday weekend? We've teamed up with Wings and Wheels at Dunsfold Park to offer two family tickets to enjoy one of the best days out for aviation and car fans in the country http://goo.gl/lg8eW. The Red Arrows, the Vulcan bomber, and much more in the air and on the ground. It's a great day out with something for just about everyone, find out more about the show and how to enter the competition here : http://www.netweath...s-tickets;sess=
  4. Any one got plans to head out on Sunday?
  5. Please don't turn this into a 'Forecaster Discussion' page, and back to models please....
  6. uh oh, but then again British style pubs don't encourage rowdy drinking sessions - oh wait a minute...
  7. Looks like this might be just the thing... http://www.storm-game.com/ I wonder if they'll have any UK chases on there?
  8. The NMM has pushed the main event southwards into the midlands, if you are thinking of going out chasing tomorrow please consider the fact that upto 70mm of rain is possible in places, it's not safe to be bombing around with one eye on the sky and 4 wheels aquaplaning - so keep safe if out and about for any reason.
  9. On second thoughts, booking a hotel with on site cocktail lounge may have been a little dangerous, after the sinking of 80+ jager bombs in Denver...
  10. I think you are going to like my choice of hotel this year : Best Western Plus Papago Inn & Resort 7017 E Mcdowell Rd Scottsdale 85257 AZ http://www.bestwestern.co.uk/Hotels/Papago-Inn-And-Resort-Scottsdale-3021/Hotel-Info/Default.aspx
  11. I've not looked properly at accommodation yet Lewis, by popular demand I'm trying to make sure that it isn't quite as, um, interesting as last years choice...
  12. Not a bad idea Mark, who did you use for your sticker? and good luck with the interview.
  13. 'At the end of the day' is a very cool shot Tom, the rest aren't too shabby either. I posted my highlights from T5 earlier, but will drag a couple of shots over here too. A familiar hill top, the same position for two chases, both producing plenty of lightning Pano stitching, the official addiction of most chasers... Not sure if this is an LP supercell or a really big cows hoof
  14. After 4300+ miles (enough to have driven home from Denver...), 240 US gallons of unleaded, 5 states, multiple storms, good laughs, countless Jager bombs and stealing an old mans car keys I thought I'd gather some pictures from the tour into one post. The only ones missing are the tornado and some video footage, which I will hopefully get up later. A high altitude start on change over day First chance to stop after being battered by a nice horizontal hail core and dust storms Colorado/Nebraska border, as Nebraska continues to tease but produces a stunning sunset followed by a nice light show, that I failed to take a decent shot of... South Dakota and Minnesota - or five rotating wall cloud day, structure and wide open spaces, awesome day A bit of head beating in the northern states later, we arrived in the Badlands for some night photography, and an overnight stop in a piece of Americana, a time warp motel that somehow had survived since dinosaurs roamed the earth. And the last hurrah, Friday delivered some awesome scenery, tricky road choices, the narrowest tarmac in the USA and a lovely LP supercell to play with And finally, I found this little devil lurking in my pics, an extra from Ghostbusters? A nice 'gentle' introduction to chasing for our competition winner, Owen - the 80mph sideways hail was a nice way of the Plains to welcome him to chasing, and then meeting Chris and Dan on the same day a little taste of home too. All round a great Tour, as always the guests make it the fun it is, and Paul and Ian C always deliver a mix of cool weather and good entertainment - cheers guys, until next year. Ian
  15. Cheers Quentin A pleasure as always to share a car with yourself and Maxine. Thankfully, the scales aren't showing too much damage either ;-) Ian
  16. Structure, lightning and some, um, 'adventurous' driving to end the chase days for 2012. Once again, a quick upload of images that probably need some tlc before being shared, but it is late... Not a bad way to end the tour, thanks to the Tour 5 guests, Paul S & Ian Cameron for their hard work on this tour, Dave, Arron, Tom, John and Nick on the first three tours this year and the guests who joined us in the USA, on the stream and on the forums. It goes too quickly, here's to 2013...
  17. Some car parks are worth the $15 entry fee... Especially when you can watch the ISS fly by : And then chill for a few hours with the Milky Way
  18. Yep, after a couple of frustrating bust days and then a travel day, we should finally be able to dust off the cameras and catch something a little different tonight. Then tomorrow is the last hurrah, hopefully a big structured finale to this years tours
  19. I've tidied the stitch of the cell of the day : The luminescent green colour is the hail core, and you don't want to be under it when the softball sized hail starts to fall.
  20. After over nighting in Pierre, South Dakota, the plan is to head east around 180 miles to lunch and watch for developments. I'll let someone more technical outline the risk, but SPC has it pegged as a 10% risk of tornado, with discrete supercells and long lived tornados a possibility, along with 2" hail, damaging winds and lightning. The guests are all twitching to get out and play with the first big day of Tour 5.
  21. Ok, so instead of a giant sausage of risk in Kansas, SPC kindly removed the Kansan part of the sausage, leaving us looking at a huge distance to chase a changing risk. Sooo, discretion, valour etc, we're going to position for tomorrows Dakotan risk, which has more pleasantly dropped southward, leaving us with a 260 mile ish hop to Pierre, via the Badlands, and a chance of Aurora and star spotting tonight. If the form book holds, SPC will reattach the sausage and then issue an MD and Tornado watch for North Platte approximately 3 hours after we leave here.
  22. Aquick stitch of the sunset, needs tweaking, but you get the idea...
  23. um that bit about todays risk in Kansas... someone decided to remove Kansas from the risk map, so off oop norf for some Dakotan Delights
