I basically think, and this seems to be backed up by the continuous tv forecasts for snow, that late tonight and through tomorrow we're going to see outbreaks of light/moderate snow spreading west. The showers over the SE are fizzling out and will die out. But the snow thats moving west across Germany and the Low Countries will head towards us. Not massive depths for us, just fairly persistent light/moderate snow which will then shift further north and west during Monday. The next 6-8 hours will probably be mainly dry for most of us.
All we can hope for is that the snow peps up a bit more as it crosses the North Sea, although I wouldnt expect it to do so very much.
Then we have to look towards Tuesday/Wednesday and just hope that the Low moving in from the SW extends a bit further NE than is currently being forecast, but not too far NE, so that we potentially see heavy snow from that. But that is still a relatively long way off and I wouldnt focus too much on the details of it until about Monday evening/Tuesday. The threat at the moment is mainly for the SW and Wales. Far SW will see rain.
I think that's a reasonable assumption.
There seems to be two large bands over Germany at the moment. I think the second band has our name on it. Albeit light PPN. I cannot see where else (what the Met are forecasting) it could be coming from.

What complete nonsense. What is amateur about what some like Steve state on here, it is on the whole both more reliable and accurate than anything made available to the general public, if anything the Met Office need a kick up the I have a problem.
Cynical posts like that are best ignored. The majority here respect members weather reports judgements with a bit of humour thrown in. If you want "professional forecasts" leave the forum and refer to the national media channels. Enough said.

I'll still give the benefit of the doubt to the Met Office for the time being. I mean, if things were going to really quiet down they would have updated by now-surely?

RM on N24 just said only light snowfall for most of southern Britain all Sunday and Monday.

I personally don't understand why Francis Wilson is so rated as a forcaster. I can remember literally countless times when his forecasts have hyped up snow events and we've had bugger all.
I think he spends too much time with the skirt presenters in the coffee bar.

Still a constant blizzard here.
-
Awesome blizzard conditions and heavy drifting here in Eastbourne. Been like it for 3 hours now. Perfect!
-
This is what it's all about. Persistant blizzard conditions with heavy drifting. Out with the cognac and the old blitz spirit!
-
thought it would come my way still happy for you guys, might drive over there and visit my sis

We've had about 3cm so far.
-

You never know, you might get that large blob way off the Essex coast!

It's a good night for Eastbourne. Persistent moderate (sometimes heavy) snowfall. That streamer just keeps rolling over us.

Where is your location?
Langney.

Here's the link for all UK motorway cams
http://www.trafficen...torwayflow.aspx
enable the roadside message signs, handy little tool!
-
The motorway cameras are a handy resource. But the flash map interface is atrocious! Go here http://www.bbc.co.uk...ravel/jamcams/# then wait till the warning about computer running slow pops us, select "yes" to dump the duff script, scroll down and you'll see a link for the camera list.
Right click on cam you want and open in new window.
Sounds complicated but it's the beast way i've found.
Have you tried the Highways Agency site?

congrats on your windfall, plz pass it west once your done with it.
many thanks
I think you'll see some before the night is out, I'm sure.
-
Moderate snowfall here now. Some drifting in a freshening NE. Looks like we might catch a lot of that band.
-
-
LOL. What an anti climax.

Get ready for Peter Cockroft-he's the man!
-
Obviously the Met Office are ramping up. They must be confident as so close now. 15cm and heavy drifting=total chaos. We luv it!
-
Heavy snow in Eastbourne now as we get the back end of this shower. Must give almost a cm when finished.
-

This would be the man made global warming toe-rags worst nightmare. I doubt though that most of them aren't even aware that all the source of earth's energy comes from the sun!
